Tamiya Mini Cooper Gear troubles

I've got a problem with my Mini cooper. I use a Sports Tuned motor and
ball bearings as hop-up. The problem I've got is that I keep on
stipping gears during races. I've asked around and no one seems to
have the same problem. It does happen that the other people strip
gears, but I strip a gear almost every second race. I don't know what
to do about this as buying gears every race is getting to be quite
expensive.
Is there anyone out there that might shed some light on why this
happens to me the whole time and what I can do to prevent this.

You ARE using the correct "Tamiya pitch" pinions, right? If so, Tamiya does
make hardened pinions that last much longer. Is this the M-03 Mini? The M-03
has fixed motor mounts for 2 or 3 different pinion sizes if I remember
correctly- this should make it VERY hard to get the mesh wrong, as it is
preset. I have one and finally stripped my pinion (the non-hardened one) AND
the spur, but I was running it very hard and in places I shouldn't.... such
as my local dirt track.

I'm sure you have already, but you may want to disassemble the gears and
reassemble them while triple-checking the instructions?

HTH,

Dirk
