Hi, I have a new uncharged battery, but the problem that I purchased
this battery in 1991 but have not used it at all, so the question is:
will it work as a new battery if I start using it now?

To charge or not charge that's the question.
I guess yes, just give us feedback.

There is only one way to find out!
I would say to discharge each cell individually down to .4 volts or
so, and then let it rest for an hour, then start a charge at 1/10 the
rated capacity for 12 hours for it's first initial charge, but after
that, use it like you would any other pack.

If it's been sitting that long I'd say that the pack
discharged/reversed and will not be usable. But it's not like it
would blow up if you tried to charge it. Give it a whack and tell us
what you find out.
