I was in the process of cleaning my engine and got the bright idea to trade
out carbs (only due to the fact I have trouble tuning the new one) on my
current engine with my old engine.  When I found out that my old carb was
not going to work and went to replace to new one back in did I realized that
the needle was missing.  My question is-- is the needle really necessary and
if it is how do I either gat a replacement needle or replace the carb with a
new 1 of the same manufac.  I went cheap on my upgrade and put a Hot bodies
.18 in my T-maxx.  Any help would be appreciated.

Ahem... yes it is

Take the engine into your Local Hobby Shop and ask.  They may have a needle  in
stock, or an old engine that they can steal one from.
If not, they can order you a needle.
You will need it to run your engine.
Once you get the needle... ask the guys at the LHS for some help with
tuning.
They SHOULD be able to get that engine running good for ya.
If you pay close attention, you should be able to tune the engine yourself
from then on.
Good luck.

Don't be surprised if they will not help with any tuning though.  If you
didn't buy the kit or engine from them, they most likely will not help you.
Some of them are funny that way.  All the ones around here are just like
that.

Thanks for the help.  I already had 4 tanks of feul thru this tank..it just
ran hot all the time (even without the body on) which is why I tried to
change the carb out becauce the old carb had fine tuning function which the
hot bodies carb did not.  I just got a mailer from Hobbypeople about thier
4th of July sale and i see the are selling an XTM .18 engine for $50.  Do
you think I forget about fixing this engine and go for the more popular
brand of engine?  Just a thought!!!!!

Also wanted to pose the question about my truck, when I go full throttle,
the truck always pulls to the left (i think) and am constantly having to
straighten it out.  I can't get it to go straight.  Do you think my servo is
bad or is there an easy adjustment on the servo itself to possibly correct
this problem?  Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.

If you've got the cash, then go for it.  It wouldn't to get that one running
ok for a spare.
