TyBreaker - 23 Dec 2004 09:22 GMT > This dude is trying to sell this at ebay.LOL Well, not knowing anything about this type of RC but I suspect vastly overpriced considering it's a 7-day auction and nobody has placed a bid after 5 days.

But you do remember i did post a retraction due to my incorrect settings in my speed trap.:-)kmph is not mph LOL!That was a big oops! By i learned. The funny thing about this post is when i first posted it i received a email from a guy claiming that he saw a article in some rc mag that these things do 120mph.I wrote him back telling him that that was hilarious.I even dared him to post that remark here figuring he'd be picked apart the way i was last spring.LOL!

Hmm... if you ran a standing (1/10th scale) quarter mile in under 2.4 seconds, assuming constant acceleration, you'd cross the line at around 75 mph. Sub 2 seconds gives you 90 mph...
If you could run a 1.5sec quarter, that would give a terminal speed close to 120 mph! Of course, if was still accelerating beyond the 1/4 it might well get there given enough length.

Although you and I know he is a wacko and full of crap, just watch how he spins off axis at someone doubting him. He finally admitted a mistake in the timing, but in the end who gave a damn anyway since it wasn't a real time trial or race...... Just good clean fun making the psychos spin off into the great unknown.

the_atomic_punk - 24 Dec 2004 06:30 GMT Shannon just 3 words for you. Leave me alone! If not, then i get dirty on ya! and that could mean lots of frustration for you and you and your (i'm sure) valuable time. Wanna try me?You will not like it!(for once trust me) Another 3 words for ya! LET IT GO!
" He finally admitted a mistake in the timing"
I admitted that back in spring but i still got 91mph out of her this summer. And no it was not the 132 feet thing,it took more distance to get her there. But it did happen.(you hotdogphiliac)

[quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > summer. And no it was not the 132 feet thing,it took more distance to > get her there. But it did happen.(you hotdogphiliac) There you have it folks - the wacko has gone over the edge and has started ranting and referring to male anatomy again.
How about this, once and for all take your car and have it timed by a disinterested 3rd party such as your local sanctioning body? Then beat your chest, pat yourself on the back or what ever all you want.
You want everyone to love you for the few things you have done, but then make fun of some guy on ebay that has done about the same - he made an outragous claim. Sound familiar?
Go back to your webtv life and live out your fantasies Mr Rourke.

If it was a "Big Oops" as you say, perhaps you can explain the things you said here: _____________________________ (The_Atomic_punk) Date: 7 Sep 2004 11:18:11 -0700
Whatever.I dont need to prove nothing.I dont care that you think out of your jealousy.I know what i did and thats all that counts.I dont beleive i made any mistakes. When i drove by the speed trap in my car i was doing 40 according to my speedometer and the speed trap flashed 39 at me so i figure its close. So end of discussion mr shannon. _________________________________

What i am basically trying to say is over all this time i have had 1922 hits on the 911 dragster page and not one acknowlenged the fact that it was a cool or uncool(whatever)to do a tribute like that. Now instead i got retards psyco anilizing me,trying to dig up dirt on me,crap like that. Petty isnt it out of 1922 hits from hundreds of countries not one mention of the tribute. So psycho analize that.At least i got stats.Got alot from texas(hmmm) So anyway.I am big enough just to let this all go.I have no shame but most in this group should have.Maybe i am the last proud american?Certainly there are no others in this group.

Yanno What??? Boo Hoo. BOO freakin HOO ! ! ! The Original Post you sent in this thread was to hold someone ELSE up to RIDICULE. You were so BENT on making FUN of that poor ebayer selling his RC. I went to his auction. I read the speed claims, and I also read the description. The description was so riddled with misspellings, typos, and poor style, I was convinced that the ad was put up by either a child, or an illiterate adult. I was actually feeling sorry for him/her. WHY.... on God's Green Earth, did you feel it was necessary to call attention to that pathetic ad... in this group? What was motivating you? What were you hoping to achieve? The fact is.... you got pissed, when it all backfired on you, and YOU were reminded that unsupported speed claims are annoying, and yes, sometimes funny. I want you to read the posts below. I want you to see how I reacted.... the MINUTE you showed an OUNCE of HUMILITY, and yes... even HUMANITY.
I apologized to you... even though I was fully aware of your claim that you double-checked your speed trap against your car's speedometer. I KNEW you were trying to find a way out of the debate... and still *Save Face*. I quietly sat back, and apologized, in order to restore harmony. So, ya had a little fun. You flooded our group once again with a bunch of garbage. You went back to your old ways. You tried to get others, in other newsgroups, to harm this group... again. All you really accomplished, was to remove any credibility you may have re-gained from your past antics. Please get over yourself already. You're a 39 year old man for God's sake. Quit acting like a child.

You should get out more, then you would know that is a discussion with MEN, and MEN can take a ribbing, razzing, or hard time (what ever you want to call it. It's kind of a male bonding thing ok?) BUT, since you are not a MAN, you don't understand this. Maybe you weren't treated right as a child, who cares? Freakin grow up and understand that if people razz you, give you crap, or what ever, they may like you and your achievements. I do believe that all of us said congrats on the 70 mph thing 2 months ago, but you forget that part. And you were given credit for the car looking nice. Plus, I will give you credit for pushing a Bolink that far, but you have to admit that it is not in the same class as the rails that run on sanctioned tracks. These follow rules to make a situation for all to be judged equally. If you can run 91 MPH in 3/8 of a mile, then realize the others in the 1/10 scale drag racing world are doing that same thing on a 1/10 scale track not 200, 300, or more feet. That is all that was said to you. I remember how full of crap your original post was as do the others, so excuse us for thinking that we were talking to a MAN!
Also, who needs to be reminded of the facts, if you have a computer, you can look them up! But most of us remember the facts, so that is why the razzing continued.
Mark this day on the calander, you get a break. Usually I would tell you what to do with a sharp splintery stick or a chain saw, but today I will tell you WHATEVER! I don't appologize or anything of the sort. You said you were hard, well you have run up against someone just the same. And as I have said in the past, the hard time you were given obviously drove you to prove something. Good luck and maybe it just takes an a.shole to be your muse!

the_atomic_punk - 30 Dec 2004 03:56 GMT Hey i thought you PLOINKED me! I accept your generous apology :-)
Actually a scale 1/4 mile is 132ft.I never said i got my speeds in a scale 1/4 mile. It look much longer to get to my high speeds.I have very tall gearing.I am well sure i would lose in a sanctioned event.I never said i beat a sanctioned speed record. As i had explained i did huge ovals on a very large parking lot.(but you missed that obviously) In person understand the (male bonding)jazzing, ribbing and such. But in print it is hard to tell the difference between that and harrassment. If thats the case well i feel embarassed and ashamed of my actions. If i had known it was in good fun and not a personal attack, well i certanly would not have went on the defense.I most certanly would not have went on and on about it.Damn I actually feel stupid now that you put it thatway.

Go have some fun and get going even faster. Since you like to tinker with it so much, find a way to put a 2-speed on that chassis, patent it and get rich! There is not much room there, but I have always thought it could be done. It may take a different tire size so you can push the hub out a bit, but if it could be done, think of all the bracket racers with that chassis that would probably want it.

**my new year's resolution - Don't be such a richard noggin all the time! BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!
the_atomic_punk - 31 Dec 2004 02:03 GMT Yea were cool and i apologize for being a a.s.I have though of a 3 speed in fact.(one that is made foe a tmaxx app)I could extend the wheelbase by making a longer axel. The alful shame about the dragster? Bolink went belly up and parts are scarce:-( So i probably am going to shelve the thing. I was thinking on the new era's carbon fiber rail drag. It has lots of possibilities.By the way you do realize that my tire size is much larger than the stock meats? They are Parma hemi meats they have a 3.3"dia over the stock 2.45"dia.That also made a difference in the final drive ratio. And they did not even come close to matching up with the stock hubs,so they had to be modified of course. You are aware that megatech has a chinsy bulky rail dragster availible? Well i also seen on their website that they have a funnycar model as well.I thought the chassis was very interesting.Exspecially the rear diff.I wonder when it will be availible.Check it out.

I have seen these take a SERIOUS hit at a high speed and be ready to run again when it is time. one of these took a major hit on the backplate, we pulled the plate, straightened it with a hammer and a flat steel surface and it was ready to go at the next round (still a little tweeked) but it made a pass in the 1.7s. I believe Tim Campbel is running one and this is the same rig Bill ran at 94 mph in the 132'. Imagine what the thing would do with a little more room to run! (I hear the wheels turning in your head already! MOD man, MOD!) AFAIK this is the same chassis that was used with Tim's 1.6 blasts last year and pretty much anyone that was really serious this year.
The megatech is a turd, but I guess it is fair for a RTR. I think the Bolink was a better product by the shear power to weight issue. One showed up to run and it was promplty stomped by the .12s with a 2speed. The Bolinks (OS CV-Rs and Rossis) ran with it without any problem with their single gear setup too.
If you are truly interested in dragsters, check www.imdra.com (used to be the IEDA?) or www.nrcda.com as these are probably the best drag related orgs in the U.S. These guys run on anything from a prepped surface to a parking lot but it is still all 1/10 scale.

elimin8or23@comcast.net - 23 Dec 2004 16:10 GMT though it is not probable, it is possible. These types of cars can do speeds of 100 mph or more, but they would be highly modified. The one in this ad would probably top out around 65-75 mph. The price for these in a kit form is about 50 - 75 dollars, but have no motor or electronics. the price is ok, but who wants to drive an r/c in a straight line......BORING!

>but who wants to drive an r/c in a >straight line......BORING! Actually, RC Drag Racing has become VERY popular. It is a real test of nerves, reflexes, and of course... a test of modelling and engineering skills to build a competitive car. There is a real "Christmas Tree" starting device, as well as all kinds of electronics to check elapsed times, and top speeds. Fortunately these devices help to keep top-speed claims based in some sense of REALITY.... not FANTASY.

Besides, if you have a car that IS a top performer, the pass is so quick you might miss it if you blink. Let alone being left at the start wondering what just happened. 132' can either be an eternity or a flash depending on the car.
