In general, the RC market is much better than before. Keep in mind that
Tamiya has never been known for chasing the "bleeding edge" of technology.
They tend to do high-quality, nicely detailed models that are at least
one generation back in technology.
I do think that the Duratrax brand is giving some of the more
established manufacturers a real fight in the bang-for-the-buck
category. Again, it's probably a loss leader for Great Planes, but
it's one of their ways to squeeze the other manufacturers to get them
to be aggressive with prices.
