Could some one please tell me what the differance is between a plug
with idle bar and a plug without. Can you run an idle bar plug in a
size 15 engine or is it recomened to use a standard os-8 plug as there
are many differant plugs out there.

The idea was to keep fuel from getting directly on the coil and
"dousing" it.  More a problem before combustion chambers were CAD
designed, and more commonly seen on airplane stuff I thing.

Make sure the idler does not interfere with the piston if you do use
it.

you are better off running without an idle bar. i used to run idle bars when i
raced boats but had better performance without them. when i ran longer plugs, i
would use 2 gaskets under it.

An idle bar plug has a (wire) "bar" across the tip of the glow plug. It's
supposed to help prevent fuel from fouling out the glow element! Unfortunately
that's NOT what happens. My experience is that the "bar" ends up falling off
into the cylinder!!!

Nowadays most glow plug manufactures now design their plugs without the bar!

Stick with the OS #8 - as they are >IMHO< one of the most reliable plugs!

You can run plugs with idle bar on your car but not really necessary unless
you plan on flipping it a lot, as stated earlier, more suited for use in
Helicopters and Planes to improve reliabilty of the engine and prevent
dousing of the plug during such manouevres.
