Is this about the best esc for under $50? Not looking to run anything
crazy.

A New Novak Rooster (15T/Rev.) for $50 or under is a good buy.
They usually run around $65.
Only thing that I would think that may be cheaper is a Novak XRS Sport
Reversible(15T).
Better? I don't know..it is lighter though.
Same price range as the Rooster would be Intellispeed Rev. 16T Mod.
Maybe a little cheaper..Traxxas XL-1 (17T)
Depends on what all you want the ESC to do.

For me....I find it easiest on the wallet to buy a used car with a real good
ESC in it..throw a stock/cheap ESC back in it and resell the car.
I aquired both a 8T Intellispeed and a Super Rooster this way, and after all
the swapping out and such , I would roughly guess I have no more than $35 in
both of them.(Also got 2 faster motors out those as well...just swapped the
stuff out)
