I picked up a brand new micro rs4 for $54 today at my local hobbytown
usa.Last week they had 4 RS4 super's for $117 new.I intended on going
there today for a super but they were all gone.
Thats when i found the deal on the micro.I talked with the manager and
asked him why these items were so cheap? He said they did not move
well,RTR's sell better than kits.So he took 1/2 off the items. He said
to keep checking back he is going to discount some more kits.Hmmm i
wonder what will be 1/2 off next week?
I hope my taxes come back soon.

Grand blanc mi hobbytown usa.
They also had some radios and other kits not to my liking.A team
associated buggy(rc10???) for $84 seemed like a deal but i am not into
buggy's!
I also got a nice MRC 989 charger for $22.And i love it.It brought back
a old camcorder battery i have not used(in 3 years) or could charge
anymore with its supplied charger.

Yep, that is a deal for sure if its a B4 - for that money, I would almost
buy a kit just for spares.....

Now I like gassing the car up and going as much as the next guy, but for
some reason the statement "RTR's sell better than kits" bothers me.
There is just something about building the car from a box of parts.  And
picking a specific engine, radio, and servo.  And the frustration of
getting the servo linkage to open the carb all the way (my personal
biggest frustration).  And hand picking my personal favorite hop-ups.
And painting the body...well, you get the idea.  A certain amount of
satisfaction and personal pride comes from building a kit and competing
with it.  Am I missing something, or isn't the whole point of the hobby
building a model car and driving/bashing/maintaining it?

Just my .02...but if the price of kits tanks, then I'll be up to my ears
in many, many kit parts :)

I am not complaining,if i get it cheaper.
But i hope the RTR trend does not become a standard. There is major
learning curve and personal gratification that comes from building a
kit.
That you just do not get from a RTR.However I do own a few RTR's and i
have completly diassembled them for cleanings now and then.Another
aspect of a kit that i like is there always seems to be extra parts.
If you are anything like me and like to tinker around with stuff, these
extra parts are very handy.
