My Hitec 3 Channel Ranger has given up the ghost.  Pity really, I've just
bought a new high torque servo for it.  Having looked at suitable
replacements, I rather fancy the Futaba 2PL which is also 40Mhz but AM not
FM like my old Hitec. Excuse my ignorance, but would my servos still work
with an AM receiver of another manufacture?  Am I right in thinking that the
servo is not AM/FM dependant and should work as long as the plugs can be
made to fit the RX.  Also, what advantage does FM actually bring?

Although the Hitec Ranger III is still available, I'm a bit reluctant to buy
another as its the second one that's failed in three years!

Thanks

Dennis

yes your servos will still work. to keep it simple, an fm radio has a
stonger signal and is less vulnerable to radio glitching. fm radios are
primarily used in nitro applications. if you're running an electric buggy or
truck then an am radio will do just fine. am radios work fine in nitro
trucks also but is not recommended for racing.

I have a brand new Hitec Aggressor AM 75 MHz with receiver. It is collecting
dust. Let me know if you are interested.
