hi,
I just got a little r/c car at a garage sale.
It is a "canned heat" TYCO takes 4 AA batteries total..
2 for the car, 2 for the "controller"...
It is a neat little '57 Chevy Coke car..
Moves right along, distance too!!
QUESTION is : What other R/C CARS are out there that are great right
off the shelf, not too costly, battery operated, I don't know....from
$15 to $75.00 ??

Radio Shack X-Mods are about $50, and are generally considered to be the
nicests hobby level cars under $100 in the USA.
At ~$110 you can get a Mini-Z, which has industry support for hop-ups
and upgrades.
For ~$150 plus charger, you can get an Associated RC18T (4 wheel drive)
or a Losi Mini-T (2 wheel drive). Either one will eazily impress you
with their handling and speed. They come with massive support for
upgrades, replacement parts, and speed tweeks.
All of the above, except the X-Mod will be at your local hobby shop.
Check the yellow pages.
If you're in the sticks (read not in a major metropolitan area), order
from www.towerhobbies.com or www.horizonhobby.com

Maplin in the UK are doing a very nice 1/6th scale Formula 1 car complete
with rechargeable batteries & radio for £30 at the moment.
