for the first time... the break in manual tells me to do things I don't
have, such as pull the starter cord (I have rotostart) and to prime the
carburato but I don't have a priming button to push... do I just ignore
these and use the rotostart or what?

To start your rotostart savage properly: without the igniter connected,
take your fingertip and cover the exhaust. Give the rotostart a few
turns, if your fuel tubing is clear you'll see fuel rise thru the tube
and go into the carburetor. It will probably take about three quick
times of this. Then connect the glow ignitor and without your finger
over the exhaust turn the engine over and start it.

putting your finger over the exhaust cause suction of fuel while
cranking the engine, which primes the engine.

Don't flood the engine or it won't start.
