Anyone own one?  If so, have you made the observation that they are pieces
of crap?  I bought two Gladiators on E-Bay a month ago for my birthday and
to date have gone thru:

1.  One engine (M16, cooked itself after a few quarts)
2.  Two transmissions
3.  Four ring and pinion sets for the differentials
4.  Multiple servos

The damn things run great, handle great and are fast as all hell when
they're not on the rack getting fixed.  I average around 1 hour shop time
per tank of fuel.  Very dissappointed.  Are all nitro trucks this crappy?

It's a Megatech so it's cheap.  You want quality buy something else.
Rarely can you find cheap and quality at the same time.

As for all other nitro trucks, no they are not that crappy.  I have
seen Revo's and Savages abused far beyond the point I expected them to
fall apart and yet they keep running.

Cheap?  Same price as a T-MAXX.................

I'll give the Gladiator one thing, it PHYSICALLY holds up well.
MECHANICALLY it's a piece of sh.t.  I run em' pretty hard and have yet to
"break" them physically; bent a few king pins, that's just about it.
Mechanically they eat motors, transmissions and differentials almost daily.

A friend of mine has a Razor XT and it seems to do ok as far as going
through parts..
He doesn't have to buy parts every tank, that's for sure.
fast little booger...
Crappy nitro trucks?... I think luck plays a large part..kind of like a real
car..someone somewhere down the line always gets a lemon..
Of course certain makes make more lemons than others...
Another thing I believe is that certain companies make their stuff cheap so
you will go and buy replacement parts alot. Make it so it will break.
(Kind of like my local hobby stores track with 4x4 posts on the corners and
wood track dividers.. simply built for breaking part sales)
My worst luck has always been with Traxxas stuff..I have owned 4 different
Traxxas items and everyone went through parts like butter.Yet, my friends
Traxxas items just keep on taking abuse day after day. I think I am cursed
when it comes to that brand....that's why soon I will only have DuraTrax,HPI
and Thunder Tiger stuff..cleaning out anything that has the Traxxas logo on
it!

Based on parts numbers, it looks like the Gladiator and Razor have almost
identical builds, which would explain why the Gladiator is eating itself
from the inside out.  Parts suitable for on-road use are most certainly not
going to hold up in an off-road environment.

I was thinking much the same thing.  One is much more problematic than the
other.

I'm of the same mentality anymore................looking to pick up a Savage
SS 4.6 and a Thunder Tiger EK (the one with the .70) before the year is
over.

Just bought a slightly hopped up Savage 25 (should be here Sat. or Tue.) and
my Thunder Tiger is an EB4, which of course has a majority of the same parts
as an EK4, has lasted 5+ years and I dont recall replacing any parts due to
breakage except for 2 wheel bearings (probably wouldnt have worn out if i
would have lubed more often), a couple of output drive cups, 1 universal
shaft ( broke because of wore out notched diff cup), and I retied the
pullstart string once (broke at the handle) in the entire time I have owned
it..(It hasn't been babied either, just taken care of with minimal general
maintenance)
Me and my buddies always compare other RCs to TTR buggies ...
asking "Do you think it's Thunder Tiger tough?"

Heading to the hobby shop this PM to grab a few odds n'
ends..................if they have a Savage 25 on the shelf it's GONE.  I'm
getting tired of having 2 hours tinker time per tank of fuel.  I'd love to
sell them off on e-bay but I'd hate to curse someone else with their
presence.

I might just convert them into street vehix and slap a Viper body on them.
They are very fast and agile when the suspension is dropped, and they'd
probably hold up better on pavement.

I'm also looking at the new OFNA Ultra LX buggy (the one that comes with the
Force 26).  Any experiences with OFNA products?

I personally havent owned an OFNA but my cousin has a Violator and it's
treated him well..My friend just recently put an OFNA .26 on his EB4 and it
flat screams!
Actually if I were to buy another buggy at a budget price I would go with
the OFNA LX Comp from Tower.. came close to getting one before..they are a
bit better now with the Violator arms and a few updates..
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGUS1&P=7
back ordered again as they are a hot seller!
use ad number 010J3 to save $25.00 off your next order of $199 or more

That is the exact buggy I was talking about.  Thanks for taking the time to
help me out; I appreciate it.

I'm going to put the Gladiators on E-Bay and use the moolah to buy either an
OFNA LX Comp, a Savage SS 4.6 or a Thunder Tiger EK4-S2 MT.

Thanks again,

Doc

Oh yeah... I am not sure on the S2 version of the TTR EK4 MT , but I know
with the S2 EB4 Buggy there are two versions..one which has a center
differential and one does not..if the MT has the two versions like this, I
would definitely get the one with the center diff.....
