Racetrack specs

Hello,

I'm thinking of putting up a race track to compete w/ ourl pathetic
excuse of an ONLY race track here in my area. This track is small (less
that 60 meters) and is made of concrete. The owner refuses to make
improvements to it because they think that we are captive customers to
his estblishment. Even if we do complain, we have no choice! I hope to
change that by putting up my own place which will be far better in
every aspect. Not only that, but they are also manipulating the idea
that nitro cars are dying and that electric is in. Economically
speaking this is more of an advantage for the store rather than the
consumer. 1/10 Electrics require more equipment (battery packs, battery
chargers, dischargers, matchers, ESC, brushes & lathes but minus the
components that both nitro & electric have in common) as opposed to a
more sturdy nitro kit that only require a receiver battery and an extra
servo. The actual consumption of nitro is the gas and nothing more. Of
course, as any businessman would tell you less consumables mean less
income.

I don't want it to be like that. I have nothing against electrics. In
fact, my car is a Tamiya EVO4 - my dream kit. I just don't like the
idea that my city is slowly trying to kill out the nitro scene under
the guise of false propaganda. The race tracks we have already
strengthens this mentality since the tracks are long just enough to let
nitro cars go into 2nd gear before slowing down. That's a great
injustice to the power of nitro! I have an unassembled kyosho fw-05rr
that is still in the box. I have second thoughts of putting it together
since I'll never see the darn thing go beyond a few miles an hour in
that race track.

Can anyone give me the specs of a pro grade asphalt race track? Asphalt
type, quality, height & width, control tower specs if there's a
standard for it and, of course, transponder info.

you should call your local chapter of ROAR, or maybe even the National
office.

There is no contact info and their discussion forum is locked and
requires access. That's another form I have to fill up. :(

You can get the pro-grade track specs from the ROAR downloadable .pdf
handbook.  You don't have to sign up to read it.

The key to getting that track to work is to be there for a couple of
years EVERY FREEKING WEEKEND with the opportunity, but not the
responsiblity, to race EVERY FREEKING WEEKEND.  The only way you will
get a regular crowd is if they are comfortable in knowing that you will
BE THERE this time and EVERY time.  They will go elsewhere if they think
they will be wasting time by packing up to go to a closed track.

Hello,

Thanks so much for your feedback. :D You just gave me an idea.

Anyway, I have business partners including my brother who can watch out
the track for me. I also have existing racers who are willing to ditch
the old track for an asphalt one. My former American boss is willing to
jump into the venture. Since people here love American culture the fact
that he's there attracts attention by itself. hehehehe...

Can you perhaps tell me what kind of asphalt or consistency to use on the
track? I have a few asphalt track owner in a neighboring island give me
pointers on a track but I forgot to note down that asphalt thing they
mentioned.

I read the rulebook but there's nothing here that says anything about
asphalt types.

I never knew there was different asphalt types.  *blink* *blink*  Go
with the smoothest surface, and the least tendancy to release pebbles.
Seal the top if you have the dough.  Invest in asphalt sealer every
year, so you don't have to resurface the track so often.  The key is
making it as smooth and flat as possible, with no dirt or rocks.

What about width x height specs? is there a minimum size requirement?
