Sportwerks Mayhem

..although I think your cap of 400 bucks (US) is a bit unrealistic for a
1/8th scale buggy if you want an engine with it, and you want it to be
new and not used.

The Mayhem would be great because You can always get parts and the parts
aren't expensive. Any decent hobbyshop can order direct from Horizon and
have parts in a few days.

You can always get the Ofna LC Comp, you can find it RTR for 299.00 US
I bought one and love it!

Shaggy,

I assume you mean the LX comp right?  I too was looking at grabbing one of
these.  A few questions:

1)  One or two-speed tranny?
2)  How fast is it? advertised vs. actual?

Thanks!

Doc

Check your local club to see what rules are followed...  The
Comp (among others) isn't race legal.  Some clubs have a "run
what you brung" attitude; other clubs have stricter rules.

Hey,
Opps...LX
One speed tranny but goes like snot.
I will have an actual speed end of this week.
The guys at work (local OPP) are going to clock it with the radar gun for me
:)
Will post results at weeks end.

My guess:

41mph

I would not buy the Ofna product. I have an LX  Comp and it does not compare
to the Kyosho for reliability or performance. The .26 motor sucks. I have
since put a Novarossi BX .21 SBK short stroke in the chassis. This motor
absolutely screams and subsequently destroyed the drive train.

Ofna does not build a buggy that can withstand true performance oriented
power like Novarossi or RB concepts.

Now that my Ofna LX comp is my Frankenstein test platform, the 2 speed
tranny rocks on asphalt. I put street foam tires on it and the GTP comp
suspension system. Now it is fun. Too bad the drive train cannot take the
punishment for long. :~(

i will stay away from the ofna comp series, looks loke a lot of the
other chi-crap, i hear the hyper 7 series is ok, as well as mugen,
koyosho, and mayhem buggies, what i really want is a thunder tiger EB4
S3, but i cant find one in stock at a reasonble price ( i wish i could
import one from china at there cost 0f $240 before they put it in the TT
box) oh well, ! has any one seen a review of the RD Logics SHO? all of
the products iv used and seen of theres seems really well made and is
very reasonabaly priced, also prp swift any good? (<suppose not>)
tanx all,
patrick

I pretty much think that the Comp LX is basically a very slightly downgraded
Violator, which is a pretty darn good buggy. I still think it is probably
the best budget buy in a RTR Buggy on the market.
Parts are plentiful, inexpensive, upgradable and easy to locate.
I wish TTR parts were as easy to find and as inexpensive......
