Well from what I can tell, sealed do protect better, but also have more
rolling resistance, so shielded would help a little with runtime and speed
than sealed. Wallets are not too deep ;p, I make 7 bucks an hour working at
a gas station lol, so until I finish school I'm relatively broke. I can
probably afford a few hundred a month to upgrade the car with though.

Bear in mind that either of them will beat the hell outta the flat washers
you have on there now and make a difference in acceleration and runtime. I
prefer sealed as they tend to last longer and require less frequent
cleanings/lubrication.

GET THE RPM BEARING CARRIERS!! They are $9 a pair and can be bought at
Tower if you don't have a LHS. Get the fronts and rears.
I went the "cheaper" route and just replaced bushings with bearings.
The first one blew out the first time I drove it. A few more runs and
I had about half of them trashed. The cheaper way ended up costing me
more money, as it often does. The stock Rustler bearings are pretty
thin and unless your babying the thing (if you are, shame on you) they
will give out in time. The RPM bearing carriers will let you use a
larger bearing similar to what most other kits come with. Those
bearing should last a long time no matter which way you go, sealed or
shielded.
