Controller Question

At the bottom of the controller I have there are two switches.

Steer CH 1

CH 2 Throt.

When I switch them to their second position the throttle and steering on my
truck get reversed.  Why are these switches here?

ummm .  .  . to reverse the direction of throttle and steering?

Seriously that's what they're for.  Not all models use the same servo
layout.
