If you've never had an RC before, electrics are a great choice. They
are actually quite fun, and I run both personally. I started with nitro
and it was a huge headache, but I eventually learned everything. I'm in
the US, so I can't reccomend anything based on prices, unless you are
planning on getting it shipped from the US. But, I happen to like the
Losi vehicles.

oh, i forgot to mention -- Nitro is very different then gas/petrol. The
latter use engines similar to weed whacker engines, and require less
tuning and maintenance, are bigger, more powerful, and way more
expensive. Don't even think about it on your budget :)

Owing to different tax structures, etc, about $150 - $200.  :-(  Maybe a
little more, realistically, but it won't buy what you'd think it might
if you took the exchange rate literally.

For that money I'd seriously consider going second-hand - try the back
pages of Radio Race Car, available in WH Smiths and many model shops,
and - if you can - go and visit your nearest club to see what they race,
and which cars they recommend.

HTH!

Second hand is always a nice way to go.  I have bought most of my
vehicles that way.

If you want one new an option would be to look at the electric 1/18th
micros.  For the money you mentioned you can get an RC18T, RC18MT,
Minizilla, Mini Quake, Mini-T, or others.  Many come with battery and
charger, the others you can add those items for just a little more
money.  Schumacher has two new 1/18ths out.  I can't get parts for them
around me, but as I understand it they are common in the UK.

There is no best vehicle. You haven't even told what type of car you
want. Onroad? Offroad?
fintamoo - 24 Aug 2005 18:23 GMT
i would like an offroad as i will be mainly running on grass / dirt.  I
have been looking at a traxxas rustler as an option but i don't no much
about these as in run times/ speed ect, any help would be brilliant.
Techpriest - 25 Aug 2005 17:20 GMT
Chec out www.traxxas.com.  They have forums with hundreds of messages
about the Rustler.

I have recommended the Rustler to lots of beginners, and even own one
myself.  It is a very sturdy truck, and with a few upgrades, it gets
even better.
