I would have loved to have one of these things in University. Might have drank less beer and partied less if I had something else to do, he he he he.

Maybe Things will pick up when something really new hits the market. Revo looked interesting, and a few bit, so how are those doing by now?
What about Atomic? has he done anything new in a while?
Anyone heard from BBA?
the_atomic_punk - 08 Oct 2005 07:10 GMT I am still around.Just lurk mostly. What is with BBA anyway? Did he ever get better? Hopefully we will hear from him soon.

Techpriest - 12 Oct 2005 22:36 GMT I am getting ready for winter. I am checking out all the new 1/18ths, there looks to be a class of them at the local indoor track this winter. I am thinking of importing a Yokomo MB-8 or LRP Shark-18. Same thing as the Duratrax Vendetta that I can get parts for, but without the less respected "D" name. Am keeping my eye out for more details as they get closer to being released.
Have also been looking at the Mini-Z Monsters as something to play with in the house on cold days when I don't feel like driving to the track. Maybe Santa will bring me one :)
Have been trying to take advantage of the good days we have left bashing the Tamiya Gravel Hound. It has a Novak Super Sport brushless and is lots of fun on the large outdoor 1/8 scale buggy track. It is also fun at the local skateboard park. I need to get somebody to film that with my camcorder. Plan to race it indoors some this winter in the 4wd buggy class. I came in last most races with my XXX4 last winter, can't do much worse with the Hound, and it has proven to be much stronger.
My 9 year old nephew has started to get back into racing now that summer is over and there are less distractions on the weekend. We share a RC10T4 FTE but I have to admit he does better with it then I do most races. He also will race his 18T if the micros take off like it sounds they might.
Garage? I do most of my wrenching in front of the TV in the living room. God Bless Tivo (weep openly).
nospam@noway.com - 13 Oct 2005 05:13 GMT > Garage? I do most of my wrenching in front of the TV in the living > room. God Bless Tivo (weep openly). That statement is spoken like a true electric R/C man! If I made the mess I do in my garage wrenching my nitros in my living room my wife would kill me!
I am considering a 1/18 scale mini-monster for indoor running this winter. The Duratrax Mini-Quake and Hot Bodies E-Zilla both look tempting. Any experience with either of them?

I run a Mini Inferno and an RS4 Micro. I've been eyeballing a mini monster for a while now and have decided on the mini-zilla. Its pretty much a small version of an E-zilla which is based on the savage (which you probably allready know). I'm not a big fan of duratrax stuff but then again, I haven't had much experience with them. The mini-zilla is pretty much a jacked up TVP mini inferno (bad comparison I know) and if you get a faster motor for it, they are a blast! Last time I took my Rs4 micro to the local meet (indoor), I was beating people with stock tayima 1/10th scales (admitedly they had stock 540's in them), and when the race finished and I drove it over to me, everyone flocked around me asking questions :)
Hang on, I just realised you mention an E-zilla, thats a 1/10th scale isn't it? the Mini-zilla is the 1/18th scale.
Anyway what I was going to say is the mini-zilla has similar suspension design to the e-zilla, 4 wheel indendant. Isn't the mini-quake a solid axle design (or am I thinking of the Kyosho mini-z monster)
Put it this way, if you get a mini-zilla, do what I'm gonna do and get aluminium chassis plates and then you have matching trucks :)

Techpriest - 13 Oct 2005 16:22 GMT I am loving the mini-LST for a 1/18 monster. Twin 370 motor goodness!! It has no crystals and you can switch between 6 different freqs at the touch of a button!! Dual steering servos!!! With charger and battery it is under $200!!!! I am running out of excalmation points!!!!!
http://www.teamlosi.com/
I am just afraid it won't be as drivable in the house as the Mini-Z Monster. To big and to fast. My wife will get upset if I go bouncing off the furniture. Next spring it may well be at the top of list of new toys.

Techpriest - 13 Oct 2005 22:26 GMT Should have mentioned it won't be out till Nov. I can't wait till spring, this is now at the top of my Christmas list. My LHS has two on preorder and said the waiting list is growing.
It looks like the 1/18 monster truck makers were having a knife fight and Losi showed up with a machine gun.
For those new to 1/18 a good site is one18th.com. Ignore the kids (my truck is bester then yers!) and you can get some great info there.

RS4's are neat, but looking for something that I can run on rough terrain as well.
I meant to say Mini-Zilla, not E-Zilla! Torn between Mini Quake, Mini-Zilla and Mini-Losi LST (thanks techpriest!)

I never have any trouble getting Kyosho bits and I live in Australia! ebay and tower is the ticket!

Local dealers can order them, but they're pricey and take forever to arrive. Might check out E-Bay though and see what kinds of parts are available..............

Bloody rained last night so no Savage :(
Fingers crossed it doesn't rain on the w/e!
Soon there will be an Inferno-ST out there as well, basically a truggy based on an Inferno, how cool! The mini market is blooming atm, new stuff coming out left right and center. It certainly is a great time for RC!

Also, my mate has got shot of his Jato and got himself a Schumacher Menace - we know its weak, but we're too excited by the idea of genuine 70mph :D
Vids and pics to follow.

Sounds like your gonna have some serious fun there :) I so need to find a 2 speed that'll fit into an MP7.5, it'd be balistic if it did!
I'm planning to run the E-maxx, savage and inferno this w/e, should be a hoot! (if it doesn't rain that is)
Also gonna take the savage out in the new concrete car park at dads work, I wanna a) see how big and long a wheelie I can do, b) see how fast it is c) see how easy it is to roll the thing :) (my poor truck body)

Scott Harless - 14 Oct 2005 02:49 GMT >Tower <used> to be my ticket, but they no longer carry Kyosho parts. It's been a while since I've owned a Kyosho...Why did Tower stop carrying Kyosho? Does Horizon or someone else distribute Kyosho in the U.S.?
Scott -- Why don't we just hire illegal immigrants to be U.S. Congresscritters and streamline the race-to- the-bottom? There's no reason to be paying a high salary PLUS benefits to someone screwing over his/her U.S.constituents when an illegal can do the job much cheaper...
nospam@noway.com - 14 Oct 2005 03:23 GMT > >Tower <used> to be my ticket, but they no longer carry Kyosho parts. > [quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > U.S.constituents when an illegal can do the job much > cheaper... I have no idea why they stopped carrying Kyosho stuff. There are ZERO U.S. Kyosho distributors that I can find online. The only ones mentioned on their U.S. website are local hobby shops, none of which are "local" for me. Horizon's big land-vehicle line right now is Sportwerks (exclusive distributor for now) and the have ZERO Kyosho-brand parts. They have a handful of bodies and bearings made by other manufacturers, but no Kyosho-made stuff.
Arrrgh!
Doc
Brandon Rohde - 14 Oct 2005 03:43 GMT Kyosho recently opened a USA r/c division and warehouse, so they are distributing everything directly. Instead of hobby shops ordering Kyosho stuff Great Planes, they now order Kyosho stuff directly from Kyosho. I guess their theory was that by cutting out the middle man, they can make more money and save the shops money. Hopefully these savings are passed on to the consumers. Since Tower Hobbies is owned by Great Planes Distribution, they only carry products that Great Planes distributes.

My LHS does not do a lot of business and was able to get on with Kyosho. Talk to your LHS and see if they will fill out the application. I went to the Kyosho website and found the form myself and took it to my shop's owner. I wanted them to carry Kyosho so I can get parts for my Twin-Force. When one of the guys that works there got a Half-8 it became a higher priority and the paperwork got turned in. At first Kyosho told them they had a dealership, but required a minimum order. That just about killed any chances of them carrying anything Kyosho. They worked with Kyosho and now they do not have a minimum order.
I hope as more and more shops get signed on you will see web retailers carrying Kyosho parts. I agree totally, if I can't find parts I don't want it.
Brandon Rohde - 14 Oct 2005 15:55 GMT I own a hobby shop/track in Green Bay, and when we signed up with Kyosho they said they no longer had a minimum order amount. That should help the smaller shops out there get setup with an account.

Also been bashing around my new Mini Inferno, those things are so cool, totally adjustable in every way, just like their big brothers..
Still bashing the Savage and E-maxx, allthough I smashed the Emaxx to bits the other w/e by driving it full speed into the end of a steel girder lying on the ground, but all fixed now, had all the busted bits as spares except the steering rack so made one up out of a bit of aluminium. Tested the repair out by taking it out for over an hour straight, no stops, no rests, battery after battery and it loved it :)
This w/e, depending on the weather I'm gonna take out the Inferno's (big ones that is), the MP6 has an engine in it that needs running in and I haven't driving the MP7.5 for over 6 months so keen to take it out for a run (and tune no doubt).
That and do an oil/filter change in my ute (1:1 scale) and a few other jobbies.
Cheers Dre
