I've just noticed that quite a few hop-ups aren't available under their old
codes, but I've also noticed that there are hop-ups similar.

Is there some sort of conversion chart to say what the old/new hop-up codes
are?

Just take for example 53028, (universal shaft.)  I can't find it under the
old code, so maybe it does still exist, but under a new code.

TIA (again)

I have not found a chart but with a bit of research you can figure it
out. For instance I found that the A-Arms  and other suspension
components from the TG-10 actually fit on a TA01/02 (the back needs a
bit of Filing but a very nice fit).

I'll do some more research when I get the old car delivered. :)

I always wanted to get into racing, just never had the money for it.

Just a thought.

Maybe we can collectively figure it all out and set a web page with
these details.

Funnily enough, I was thinking the same thing.

A MASSIVE conversion chart, I can imagine a LOT of people would benefit from
it. :)

Atm I'm keeping my eye out for Top Force and Manta Ray parts, (and there are
a few more out there that are very similar.)

*brainwave*

What we do need is a picture reference to the part, (no point giving part
number and explanation, as parts differ wildly.)

Then all we need to do is cross reference every part, If any part looks
similar then we check to see if they are 100% compatible.

So basically in the end, each part will have a picture reference and any
other tree/part sharing the same part will be included with it.  So we'll
probably find out that a lot of kits share the same part, (I hope.) :)

Another idea would be for when everyone takes pictures of individual parts,
to use gird paper to get actual sizes.  At least matching parts will become
easier. :)

Pagey out.....

Going all out would be a massive undertaking but I am sure it could
actually pay off in the end. We can start with a grid of what is already
out there like in the Tamiya products catalogs. May be easier to pick a
model and go from that. ie. Taisan Porsche- same as or very similar to
Skyline, 300zx and how many others? then go into what else will fit onto
these. For instance. I know that the Boomerang Steering knuckles are the
same as my TA02(so much for new molds). There is so much detail that can
be inserted into these pages. It will take some time to decifer and set
it up so it is understandable and user friendly.

I will start setting up a chart in excel for now with what I know and
what is in my old Tamiya Catalogs. Once done I can put that up and
elaborate on it once we get updates. I can setup a sub domain form my
site like tampartschart.macphreak.com or somthing shorter like (Tamiya
parts comparison chart) tpcc.macphreak.com and if it gets enough hits
then I can purchase an actual domain for it.

I think I am getting ahead of myself but that's the way it is when I am
on a roll......

No, that's a really good idea.

I wonder how many people a month ask about parts for Tamiya products on
here?
