Which is best for the newbie like me? As I've been looking at a
buggy/monster trucks.

Rotostart all the way!  Hell, anything BUT a pullstart (like a starter box,
belt, etc.).

Now some guys prefer the pullstarts.  I for one do not.

I like pullstarts!... (except ones by Ofna or XTM)
Nothing worse than having a 7.2 batt run out of juice when your ready to
go.. bulky and cumbersome, couple more gears to maintain...
But, of course a broken string or spring stinks bigtime too! However with a
pullstart you can "feel" the tension in the motor for issues like flooding
or vaporlock,etc...
Both have advantages and disadvantages.
A combo starter is kind of cool like on the AE MGT (pull or roto)..
