Wow, big question.
What kind of speed controller are you using? That will limit your
choices.
What kind of money are you looking to spend? Once I tried brushless I
will have a hard time running brushed again, but it's not cheap.
What are you wanting it to do? Long runtime? Low Maint? High Speed?
High Torque? Just like real cars no one vehicle can do it all.
For a basher if I can't afford a brushless I personally like 19turn
motors. I found them to be a good all-around motor. Not as fast as
the guys with the 12turns, but they have longer runtime. Again, you
need to see what your speed controller can handle. We don't want to
ruin that with to hot a motor.

Being a Tamiya kit, it would most likely have plastic bushes throughout the
gearbox except for maybe 2 metal bushes or bearings on the main shaft of the
gearbox, so any modifications you do should including replacing the plastic
& metal bushes with metal ball bearing and not just in the gearbox but also
in the front wheels. From memory you will need about 12 or 14 (5 X 11mm)
bearings Blackfoot Extreme.
I consider this to be the 1st mod anyone should do to their RC cars and
trucks before making any other modifications as it will increase run time,
speed and make the gearbox components last a little longer.
