My new Revo at idle is heats up to 280 degrees. I performed motor break
in by closely following the included procedures. In the process, I had
to shut it down every few minutes because of heat. I paced a micro temp
sensor on board for monitoring:
http://www.venom-racing.com/instructions/vst/revo/index.htm. I thought
the engine would be more stable after break in and the heat issues may
go away. Now, the motor runs strong but after a few minutes of play the
heat fail safe circuit kicks in (currently set to go off at 285
degrees).  Motor inspection reveled a problem in the plastic molding
covering gears between the starter and the back of the crank. I used
high temp RTV silicon to cover the discovered large gap where the two
pieces of plastic molding that were never properly bonded together in
one spot. I cannot find any other visual air leak problems. However,
heat issues still continue. I've now ran 6 125cc tanks through it, and
like I prevously mentioned, it's reaches 280 degrees at idle. Should I
take this lemon back?

Having been in on the breakin of a few Traxxas products now - I've not yet
encountered one that isn't set far too lean from the factory.  Richen the
high end needle, a lot.

Ditto all the others, my T-Maxx was way lean from the factory, open it up a
turn at least and see what happens.
