Does anyone have experience using 9 Ah NiMH D cells at high current
(32A)? The Chinese cells are about $6 and the SAFT cells made in France
are about $15 so for my ebike pack it's $932 for the SAFT cells vs. 332
for the Chinese cells. I'm wondering if the SAFT cells are really that
much better.

I have no experience with the cells you are referring to, but have you
checked the discharge rate of both cells comparatively?  Generally the
Chineese cells will have a low discharge rate (usually 5-10A) whereas the
pricier cells will be rated to 30A or so.

Have you checked www.onlybatterypacks.com ?  I ordered a few hump packs and
stick packs from this fella and they've performed wonderfully so far.  Cool
thing is he has the discharge rates listed for every cell he sells.

Thanks, i have definitely checked the specs or i wouldn't be considering
them. Tenergy (all-battery.com)sells a D cell rated at 40A and
Powerizerizer (batteryspace.com) has one rated 50A sustained /90A peak.
The expensive SAFT cells are also rated at 50A. I think the difference,
if there is a big one, will be in number of cycles delivered...

Me too, I just double checked.

works now for me too now, must've been a temporary server error. these
guys have a Chinese 9.5 Ah D cell for $13.99 compared to half that for
the Tenergy or Powerizer cells. I didn't bother to email them for the
max discharge rate data; it's not on their webpage.

for the same price they charge i can get the French SAFT cell, which is
the ultimate in NiMH cells. These guys prices are WAY WAY too high!!!!!
