JUST PURCHASED A REVO THAT HAS BEEN RUN PRETTY HARD. HAVE HAD PROBLEMS
GETTING IT STARTED....YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE STARTER BUTTON TO KEEP IT
RUNNING AND WHEN YOU LET GO OF IT, THE THING SHUTS OFF. I HAVE
REPLACED THE GLOW PLUG, BEING THE OBVIOUS SOLUTION BUT DID NOT HELP AT
ALL. I HAVE REPLACED THE WIRE HARNESS AND THE STARTER AS WELL.
ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN IT FINALLY DOES RUN IT WON'T SHIFT INTO
SECOND GEAR. YESTERDAY I RAN IT FOR MAYBE 10 MINUTES AND IT KEPT
GETTING SLOWER AND SLOWER UNITIL IT STOPPED MOVING ALL TOGETHER AT FULL
THROTTLE. I TOOK OFF THE TRANNY AND ALL GEARS ARE GOOD AS WELL AS THE
CLUTCH AND SPEER GEARS. ANY INFO WILL BE A HELP. THANK YOU

Stop shouting. Personally, I'd reset the needles to the manufacturers stock
settings (every 2.5R i've seen broken in, has been set WAY too lean from the
factory), then richen it a bit more. It sounds like its too lean at both
the top and bottom end to be fair. Take the low and high end needles out a
good way each (maybe half a turn on the low, full turn on the high) and see
if that helps.

to add to dan's suggestions if it were me I'd get the
schematics/drawings for this motor. Take the cooling head off count the
shims, clean everything up. Make sure you have the correct shims, and
put it all back together. When you are buying used you don't know what
the guy before you did to the engine. If the shimming isn't correct you
can have problems.

Also, check to make sure no bearings are seizing up (wheels.diffs, driveline)
and that the clutch and springs are fine.

Don't I know it. Thats why I'll have a brand spanking new savage by end of
this month. Any tips on jumping? ;)

Try and land on the wheels ;) To dip the front end, brake, to lift the
front end, throttle. Its all about being gentle on the controls tho. If
you have awesome brakes and you mash them, you'll front flip and land on the
roof or just wipe out big style unless you land it on the wheels. Likewise,
nail the throttle and you can attempt backflips - which look cool, but be
warned, landing at WOT hurts diffs, your tyres will balloon a LOT and could
well rip, and its hard to land them well. That's said - I love doing it :D

What he said........................and, the Savage flies pretty damn
straight off the jumps and requires little correction in my experience. It
is also pretty forgiving if you haven't lined up the landing perfectly. I
have yet to hurt my Savage jumping it, and I've mashed some landings pretty
badly!

He needs to hit that motor with a temp gun and see what the hell is going
on. It could go either way:
1) Too lean and is stopping d/t overheating and loss of compression
2) Too rich and is stopping d/t flooded engine
or
3) Needles are set fine, binding driveline causing it to overheat and
subsequent loss of compression.
Is the pipe producing lots of smoke and oil droplets?
Does the vehicle roll freely when pushed with your hand or foot?
