Hi all,

First lemme say thanks for all the good info thrown around in here. I'm new
to RC'ing as of last year, bought a Savage on the groups advise and am
several hundred dollars poorer...

But, the reason for my post. I also bought an AE RC18T to use inside over
the winter, but have had nothing but problems with it. I thought I had the
problem sorted, but it's back. Seems to me (total newb) that the ESC is
faulty or glitchy, since the steering works, and the truck will drive
intermittently. I found one wire, the red one, that when wiggled, would get
things going. After a period of time I resoldered it to the motor, drove it,
then re-taped the esc back to the chassis, once I stuck the esc down it
stopped working all together.

Any ideas? Did I leave anything out? Bad ESC or connection? Any ideas would
be helpful

Thanks,

Josh

Well, it seams that every manufacturer has a failure rate.  I know
because I work in a baby wipe factory.  How do you screw THAT up?  But
it does happen from time to time.  Use the warranty on it, if you can.
Otherwise you might invest in an upgraded or replacement ESC.

Shuolda mentioned that I bought it used. Looks like it's time for a new ESC.
Any suggestions for something that will work but not break the bank?

Thanks!

I've been looking into micro servos this last week, and the main players
are:

Novak Spy
LRP Quantum Micro

I think they are both pretty expensive.

There are two Duratrax micros which are much cheaper, don't know if they are
any good, but for the price worth a try.

I just ordered a Schulze Slim40be (you can see it here:
http://www.modelflight.com.au/schulze_electronic_brushed_speed_controllers_esc.htm)

Its made for planes but from the specs I think it should be OK for cars
since it includes brakes and certainly the current side of things should be
fine.

It should arrive in a couple of days and I can report on whether it works OK
in Mini-T.
