There was a Javelin going for $700 (USD I think) on eBay recently and I
suggested to my brother that he puts his 2 on there to see what happens.
One is original with the chain drive and original pin spike tyres and the
other has the upgraded belt drive and many other option parts.
Cheers

That is many Tamiya Fans dream truck. Great looking, true to scale
(1/10) but slow and clumsy as hell.

Sure'd be nice if Tamiya re-released them at a saner price. They seem
to be starting to recycle a few of the 80s cars lately.

I think they are, if enough people demand them.
I got the Top Force re-release a few weeks back.
http://www.goldstarstockists.com/playtime/tamiya-pre-order.htm This place
seems to be keeping pretty up to date with what Tamiya are releasing.

The only problem with those prices is that I would want to use the Bruiser.
I would love to see Tamiya re-release The Bruiser. Since they have done so
for the Clod Buster, Wild Willy, Lunch Box and I think I saw the Midnight
Pumpkin was also being released again.
Cheers

Yeah, think you'll find the MP is a chrome version special edition

The only problem with re released Tamiya's is that the people that have
the originals will not be pleased and having an old RC would not seem so
cool any more. Just makes collectables not so collectable.
New old cars back on the market

Manta Ray was out just before Chrissy and The Top Force was about 3 weeks
ago. :)
I'm happy they re-released the Top Force because I wanted it when it first
came out, but alas at the time funds stopped me.

Not so! My guess is that re-releases will have zero impact on the
originals' value. The originals are, after all, originals. Look at it this
way: if Chevy re-released the 1969 Camaro SS 396 would it affect the value
of the original? If Ford re-released the 1971 Mustang Mach 1 would it
affect the value of the original? If the US Mint re-issued a rare quarter
or silver dollar from the 40's or 50's would it affect the value of the
original? The answer of course is no.
Hell, it might even serve to increase the value!

I beg to differ on this matter.
Actually there are 2 that were not mentioned here and those are the
Tyrell 6 wheeler and the XR-311 both of which were re released but with
new parts to make them usable.

This IMO is acceptable but an exact version including box art is not. As
for the others being the same in every way there will be no way of
knowing if it is new or old (except maybe for carbon dating).
If Chevy were to re release the 69 Camaro SS(nice car)they would (By
Law) not be allowed to have the same engine in it on account of emision
control and not to mention other safty items like safy belts and maybe
even airbags. Same goes for Ford or any other Manufacturers. This would
allow us to know the difference right off the bat. By the way the new
camaro they are trying to push on us is so not up to par.
The other problem is once you introduce more of an item into the market
it's value goes down unless there is a way to distinctly identify the
older ones.
This is taken directly from about.com
"Scarcity or rarity is a major determinant of value." As a general
matter, the rarer a coin the more it is worth. Note that rarity has
little to do with the age of a coin. Many one thousand year old Chinese
coins often sell for no more than a few dollars because there are a lot
of them around, whereas a 1913 Liberty Head Nickel may sell for over
$1,000,000 because there are only five known specimens in existence.
I do beleive this applies for any item in any collection.
