I've been looking at the 1/18th trucks lately. I like the speed of the
RC18T. The Losi Mini's dual motors seem nice too, but not much of a top
speed. Anyone have expirience with these trucks?

I emailed this to you but it bounced, so here's the post:
At the risk of seeming "spammish", I've got one to sell actually. I bought a
18T and 18 MT at the same time, with a ton of mods on each with the hopes
that my wife would like to play once in a while, but no. So I'm selling one
of them.
I love the speed, available upgrades, ease of mods and tuning, indoor
running, etc.
Let me know if you're remotely interested and I can send photo's. Like I
said, very little use, tons of upgrades, etc.
Email me at dunning.joshua@sbcglobal.net for more info.
Thanks!
Also, check out http://www.one18th.com for TONS of info.

As far as trying to jumpstart a mutual hobby with the wife/girlfriend
and then failing; well.... welcome to the club. It seems as if no
interests intersect between the sexes.

No sh.t. I bought a set of 1/10 nitro MT's awhile back......his and hers.
Painted her's translucent metallic pink (looked pretty sweet acutally) with
chrome flames, all decked out with pink fuel hose and pink zip ties. As
soon as it was "decorated" she lost complete interest.

Yeah, thats the same reason I don't take my gf fishing, shooting, to
football games, etc. Something are best done with the guys.
What do you want to do with it?
I bought a RC18MT for my nephew as a basher, and it has been very
disappointing. The main spur gear is exposed and it keeps picking up
small rocks. The gear is all chewed up now and it sounds horrible when
running. It has a problem throwing dog-bones so I had to upgrade to
CVDs in the front. All these problems presented themselves in the
first few runs. Since then it has gone through more parts then I think
it should considering it still has stock motor and batteries. They are
also famous for weak steering servo savers. The wheels do not
re-center once it wears out.
Now at my local track the RC18 has been very popular and those that
race them on a groomed track say they are very sturdy. They handle
great and with brushless and lipos they are keeping up with the 1/10
vehicles.
The Mini-LST started off poorly. The gears that it came with were
faulty, many people reported stripping them out in only a few runs.
Losi has released an upgraded gear kit that is free. If you buy a
Mini-LST get the free gear upgrades right away.
If you want to bash anywhere and everywhere, the Mini-LST will go
there. If you want to race or play on pavement, carpet or a groomed
track, the RC18 is all about that.
For a basher I plan to be picking up a Mini-LST once it gets warm again
here.
I am looking at the Duratrax Vendetta for a racer. OH NO, NOT
DURATRAX! Fine, call it a LRP Shark 18 if you are an Associated fan.
Call it a Yokomo MB18 if that makes you feel better. Duratrax just
happen to get the US rights, it's all the same buggy. If it's good
enough for LRP and Yokomo to put their name on it then it can't be that
bad. I have not got to play with one yet but from reading posts at
one18th.com it seems to have less flaws then the RC18 and cheaper and
more readily available parts then the Kyosho Half-8.

Yea, I have an RC18MT - only ran it about 3 times, the dogbone problem that
everyone has, then the diffs died. Also, the quality of the screws IMHO was
very, very poor.

OK well heres my 2 cents.I run a mini T pro.I can say that out of all th
1/18 trks this thing is tuff.I have ran it for the past 2 1/2 months and
have broke a few things mainly from my going to fast a cliping a few
walls(I run indoors at RC Madness).I have a brushless system in it and
the thing is insane.(can keep up to my 1/8 scale buggy). As for the 4
wheel drive trks the associated trk is by far the best of the bunch.Alot
of people at my track run them and say they are the best as far as 1/18
scale trks go.xays break alot it all depends on how you drive. If your
going to drive them like a 1/8 scale MT then expect them to break.Thats
just my opinion.Nitro is where its at.MGT all the way

Your MGT is sweeeeeet....
Good trucks the MGT/MTA4 - they don't really seem to have taken off over
here though for some reason.

Yea - you see them around, but they're not half as common as
Sav/Revo/T-Maxx - even the LST is more popular I think - and they're pretty
rare!

From the US or from the UK? Personally, I've used and never had a problem
with the following...
http://www.modelsportuk.co.uk
http://www.apexmodels.co.uk
http://www.modelsinmotion.co.uk
http://www.microtechracing.co.uk
http://www.jespares.co.uk
http://www.rchopups.co.uk/
http://www.rcworld.co.uk/
All UK based, all great :-) Not a huge fan of ordering from abroad if I can
help it, if I do, it's usually from HobbieGuyRC or RCBoyz on Ebay US.
