BINGO. They're all made by the same company with a different monniker.

I'll ditto all of that. My bud's Acme Conquistador experienced the same
difficulties. The .15 Team Infinity motor overheated like none other, and
to keep it under 300* we had to run it so rich it couldn't get out of it's
own way. It ate both diffs in under 1 quart of fuel; the diff gears are
VERY soft.
My bud later "nudged" a curb with it at maybe 1/2 throttle and the damn
thing disintegrated into a kajillion pieces.

They are just poor quality period. I was all exicted to see that a company
was releasing a 1/18 micro-nitro buggy and was gunna grab one ASAP. Guess
what? Made by Acme and powered by a Team Infinity motor. Scratched that
one off the muct have list really fast!

Yea it was either the Conquistador or the Condor or summet that I had to
sort - seriously, what ARE the diff gears made of? I was able to chip bits
off the broken gear with a screw driver. The problem is as well, newbies
get them, fire them up, leave positive feedback, play for a bit, break them,
find them slow and then never venture back into RC. Crap like this actually
damages our hobby IMHO. Nowadays it's not as bad, as you can get a Sav 3.5
for under £300, and a new T-Maxx for £220, so they're not as out of reach as
they once were, but still this cheap crap is flooding the market and putting
off would-be RC fanatics.

They looked like pot metal to me, d/t the differences in color and texture
and softness.

I agree. If they were more in-line with the toy-class vehix per way of
pricing (like $100 or so) it wouldn't be so bad, but most are running in the
$200's and folks forking out that kind of $$$ expect decent, hobby-grade
quality.
Been considering my next major purchase. Here are my current options:
1) OFNA Ravager
2) Hot Bodies GTX2 Twin
3) Building up a Savage Twin from Roller purchased on e-bay.

Hehehe, thats on the top of my list anyway..
Nice choices though (specially the last one, as long as you post pics and
movies :)
Savage X too similar to your current Sav?
Cheers Dre

I was considering a 2nd truck, and looked at the X, but then decided it was
too pricey cos I couldn't find a cheap one on the 'bay, and also, I suspect
my Sav is actually quite a bit better :) Except for the easy out diffs I've
got it beat from every angle :-p.
The HB GTX Twin looks like a crazy piece of kit - although I often here bad
things about HB engines.
The Ravager we can't get over here, is that the buggy with the .28?

RIGHT ON!!! Zactly what I reckon :) Plus I'm still planning to put Torsens
in mine and then it'll kick arse! (I now have a brand spankers 4.6 diff
assembly so now need to get a torsen to mod in there!)
Cheers Dre

I had thought about that, but don't want the expense of decent batts and
charger. Right now I just have a handfull of 1500 Ni-Cd's and a timed
charger for my starters.

You know it!
>> Savage X too similar to your current Sav?
My current Sav is WAY better than a bone-stock Savage X in every way aside
from the easy-out diffs and externally adjustable 3 speed.

BINGO!

Yeah same here; if it was available as a kit minus electronics and engines I
would own it already. Pop a couple Sportwerks .26's in there and vroom!

Yep. Retails over here for $319-$349 US depending on the seller. Would
cost me around $600 by the time it was Doc-worthy though.
