2wd or 4wd What does everyone prefer?

Just having a think after reading the many threads about 1/18 and 1/8 scale
trucks and just wondering what every prefers to drive/race/bash?

I personally love my 2wd vehicles, they create a challenge you just don't
get in a 4wd vehicle, keeping it in a straight line.

On the other hand with the power of the 1/8 nitro trucks these days I would
find a 2wd version impossible to drive, but I still prefer a 2wd.

Wouldn't mind seeing a list of all the vehicles everyone is running, or
keeping as a shelf queen or just hanging onto so that one day you can sell
it for 1000 bucks on eBay.

Savage 46
Tmaxx
Emaxx
Stampede
Clod Crawler
Mini T
Tamiya TB03 drift car
Tamiya M03L Mini
S2000 Bit CharG
Yokomo YZ10 Dogfighter
Tamiya Blackfoot
Tamiya Fox
Associated 12L
And 3 planes

Vehicle I still own-
RC10
RC10L
Blackfoot
XTM X-terminator
Nitro Quake
Losi M-LST ,ur Shelf-Joker

I like 4wd nitro trucks the most. I think to enjoy electric now I will
have to go BL-Lipo cause regular electric just dont do the trick. Then I
would need all new stuff to run that so why bother. I would still need
to charge batts which I dont care to do.
Funny though the M-LST is my most recent purchase. I have had more
problems with it than I think a vehicle should so it has become a
shelfqueen well, not even that, a joke more or less. I will keep it
mostly for my kid to play with.
My most durable has actually been my Quake of all things. Its been my
main vehicle the last 5 years. Its been jumped 10 feet high literally
hundreds of times, cart-wheeled countless times, hit headon into mailbox
post once and all I ever break are the damn body posts. The only other
part that actually broke, in a crash, was a knuckle that happened just
last Oct. I clipped the mailbox post. There is less slop now in my quake
than my new m-lst.

Well, we were bashing on the beach a few weeks ago, and my mates Jato was
just a joke, it wasn't fun because he couldn't get in on the drag races, and
struggled to even stay in a straight line long enough to get over the jumps!
I would go for 4wd everytime, especially with a nitro truck.  Sometimes my
old 1/8th buggy used to drop to RWD only (loose pin that I could never be
arsed to threadlock) and it was virtually undriveable (Hyper 21 8 port
engine).  I don't have any experience of anything else RWD, but I find my
Sav can be a handful anyway on the wrong surface...

Savage - hopped up hugely...
RC18MT - hateful pile of crap
TTR TS4N V2 Pro - road car, boring.

I've also owned a 1/8th buggy, that I flogged because I prefered the truck.
The road car and RC18 are going the same way because they're either boring,
or shite.

Why would you possibly want it after he has stated how much he utterly hates
it?

I'll sell you my Mini-LST cheap!  Bwahahahaha!

Well it all comes down to the price if I buy it or not. Does he hate it
because he's used to a sav?

I race 4WD electric off-road, currently with a Yokomo MR4-BCS; and I've
got a Predator mongrel which is currently retired, but with a view to
getting it out again one day and running it.

I love the close racing you can get with 4WD, and I love the control you
can still have on a slippery astroturf track in the winter, or a wet
grass track in the summer.

I also have a 2WD circuit car, an Associated RC10L3 Touring, which is a
completely different challenge but also great fun.  That doesn't see
much action at the moment, as 1/10th pan cars are a dead class over
here, but I'm in the process of getting a new body sorted for it (HPI
NSX GT) after which I intend to make sure it gets used again!

HPI Savage-->Hugely hopped up, daily driver.
Sportwerks Mayhem ST-->Hugely hopped up, baddest-a.s truck ever created!  My
Fave daily driver.
Kyosho Shadow circ. 1989, completely restored and a shelf queen.
Team Losi Mini-LST-->currently for sale on e-bay.  I HATE it.

4WD all the way for big-block nitros.  With 2WD you just can't get the power
to the ground and not have it result in uncontrollable burnouts and
fishtails.  All my buds who have 2WD nitros can't keep up with my trucks
bashing or racing.

WIth my limited expirience, 1/8th - 1/10 Nitro monster trucks need 4wd.
1/10 electric trucks are fun with 2wd, IMO. Takes a skilled hand to
keep a brushless 1/10 truck on track in the dirt.
