Dudes,

Here's a new one for ya...............a servo fire!  My Hitec 645MG is no
longer.  Whilst hitting the ramp in the backyard this afternoon with my
Mayhem ST I nosed-in pretty hard on a bad landing.  Shorthly thereafter the
steering was pulling to the left.  Thinking I had fubared something I
brought it in to have a look-see.  As soon as it stopped the wheels turned
all the way to the right and that was all she wrote.

I pulled it apart and from what was left of the internals, it looks like the
circuit board inside actually cut thru the insulation of the three main
wires when I landed so hard, which then in turn shorted out and started a
mini servo fire.  The circuit board was charred and the case was distorted,
and it STUNK real bad!

I've wrecked servo gears many-a-time but never blew one up like that before.

Gonna get a KO next are ya are ya????  :P

I thought of that actually, while inspecting it in the garage!  ;-)  I've
had it for about a year now, 9+ gallons of fuel worth of runtime on the
servo so I figure I got my money's worth.

My Maxx arrived today - do they all have PLASTIC wheel hexes and drive
shafts?!  I mean, WTF?!  Thankfully, previous owner has put some nice MIP
CVDs at the back, and I must say, the New Era chassis is a very nicely made
bit of kit.  Full review when I've put a Hyper 8 port in it....

Yeah the drive shafts suck badly, the rears in my e-maxx are so twisted they
are gonna snap any minute now (spool doesn't help).

With a Hyper 8 in there you *NEED* metal axles cause the twin electric
motors are plenty enough to snot them :)

The problem with the plastic hubs is you keep tightening the wheels down to
get more torque on the wheel nuts, the pin slowly works its way through the
hub and eventually the wheel will rub against the bearing.  I went and got
nice blue metal ones, no problems now :)

Yep, sure will!  (as long as you use the standard size ones, not those big
arse ones you have on yours :)

Thats right!  So your back to chewing out the rims??

I'm keen to find out how to like the T-maxx, I absolutely love my E-maxx and
haven't looked back since converting it from the old T-maxx..
