Exauste manifold temps

I shoot the running temp on my RB concepts engine straight down the
middle of the head, same as my other engines. With an ambient of 60
degrees, the truck runs about 250/260 ,good smoke, power etc. I happened
to shoot the exauste manifold about 3/4 " out from the engine, and saw
temps of 350 / 400. I've never shot temps here before, so I don't have
anything for a bench mark. Is this a normal temp range for an exauste?

In my experience, and please bear in mind I've never touched a temp gun, the
part of the truck that gets the hottest, by far, is the manifold.  Makes
sense tho really, it has very little cooling, no airflow, no fins, just hot
gases whipping through it.  You're taking the temp in the right place down
the head, so don't worry about it :-)

If you have access you can try your temps just below the cooling head at the
very top of the block and compare to straight down the cooling head.

Yes, normal.  Headers run 350-450* normally.

Hey Doc.Hows things goin?Kid had the revo out tearin up the yard. Runs
great! has a back flip problem.probably a slipper adjustment. Not sure
why he thought he needed as much power that the RB puts out. Guess I'll
have to take back some of the bad stuff I said about RB Concepts.

RB engines rock, with the possible except of the .28 truck engine they do,
that I've heard over heats and isn't that powerful.

Glad to hear she's running!  We should hook up down @ Brown's Raceway one of
these days and make some noise!

Directions?

It's off SR 213 in Ohio.  You'd probably pop into Ohio thru East Liverpool
on Route 60 correct?  From East Liverpool, take SR 7 south past Wellsville.
About 3 miles after you're past Wellsville, take the 213 exit on the right.
Stay on 213 for a few miles and Brown's is on the right.  It's a great hobby
shop (HUGE!!!), great track (HUGE!!!) and sits right on a river tributary so
if you have any r/c boats you can run them too.  He actually has a marina as
well right on the premises.
