Do any of you have this setup?
I bought mine used...so I have a a few questions maybe someone can help
out on.
Is the hot bodies the only roto start backplate that fits the trx 2.5
or os 18 tm?
With this setup...how do you fit the shaft through the rear shock
tower?
I was running the starter shaft at an angle and it was getting chewed
up. I tried running it almost horizontal through the shock tower, and
out just above the rear bumper. In my case, I needed to stretch my
back bumper down while starting to barely clear the bumper from rubbing
against the starter shaft. Does this seem normal? It also rubs a
little bit on the rear shocker tower, as clearance is very tight.
Are the other ways/tricks to get around this? (bumper rubbing)
Can anyone point me to some pictures?
thanks!!

I believe OFNA makes one for the TRX 2.5 that has the starter hole in a
position that doesn't require bending and contorting to start!

You can try Sullivan TigerDrive their set-up doesn't come out the back like
a rotostart it comes out the side from looks of things. This would take
care of your bumper problem.

Great suggestion! My bud has one on his T-Maxx with Wasp .18. He has his
set so that the starter shaft enters the tiger drive from the top, but it
can be rotated 360* and you could have the shaft enter on the "passenger
side" of the vehicle as well. The driver's side won't work d/t the fuel
tank.

Thanks everyone for the tips.
Yeah...the tigerdrive seems cool. I wonder if their one way bearing is
propietary though since it comes with their tigerdrive kit. It didn't
say use the standard traxxas bearing.

The bearing is pressed into the large gear that sits against the backplate
and replaces the factory one-way. Unless you have a hydraulic shop press,
the only way to replace the bearing is to get the whole gear from Sullivan.
My bud torched his one-way after quite some use and Sullivan was really cool
and sent him another gear + bearing for free. The replacement bearing has
lasted "forever"!
