Howdy,

A few recent posts have asked for servo recommendations.  I stated that I
use Hitec 645's on steering and Hobbico HS-64's on throttle/brake.  I had
also stated that both do their job nicely............

Well..................I managed to cook (2) HS-64's this PM; one in my
truggy and one in my buggy.  The one in the truggy had maybe 3 gallons on
it; the one in the buggy had less than a gallon on it.  Both pooched in the
exact same fashion with the manifestation being a complete and sudden loss
of brakes.  I almost hit my garage with my Mayhem ST doing around 40mph
because of this!  I had to crank the wheels to the right <which flipped the
truck and sent it on a cartwheeling adventure> but it missed the garage
thank god.

Servos work fine in one direction (throttle) but "chatter" in the other
(brakes) as the gears are slipping.  This produces zero torque as there is
no grab in the servo's geartrain.  So, I ordered some 645's for the
throttle/brake as I've never had one mechanically fail on me.  Metal geared
servos all around from now on!
