I know this may sound like a silly question...does anyone know drip
free and clean way to pour from these stupid cans?
You know...the 1 gallon rectangular metal cans...for fuel, paint
thinner, denatured alcohol, etc?  It's as if the manuf. wants us to
spill and waste the stuff.  I'm sure everyone has encountered this
problem.

Sure I could siphon it, but I was trying to find some kind of spout.
Basically I would like to transfer it to smaller 1 qt bottles.

Thanks!

Cut a funnel from the top of an empty plastic (20 oz or larger) sod
bottle for the recieving jug/bottle.  At the local novelty store yo
may be able to fnd a "tornado in a bottle" device (intended to mate tw
2-liter bottles) which will mate the soda bottle to the receiving bottl
so you won't need 3 hands.  Some bottles, the part soda bottle funne
witllfit inside the opening snugly and the cap threads act as a vent
(works VERY well with Powermaster fuel cans when you have a "pour an
pump" setup with permanent fittings in the can.)

When pouring from a nearly full metal can with the cap near a corner
tilt the can sideways with the opening UP.  This reduces spillage b
allowing better control of the pour.  The can must be tilted further t
get the content to come out and air can enter better, reducing th
surging effect of the fluid having to stop exiting the jug when ai
enters. (because air can always enter if you don't pour too fast)
have used ths method to transfer a FULL gallon from one can to anothe
with no funnel and no spillage

Perhaps you already know this - Notice the cap is offset on the top of the
can?!  When pouring the cans contents the spout should be at the top or
furthest from the point in which you are filling, not at the bottom or near!
If I am careful, I am able to pour without any spillage!!

Also I like and use a small re-fill bottle to fill my vehicle fuel tank or
pit stop - Most LHS's will carry a small re-fill fuel bottle for your RC
vehicles. for this very purpose

Well...I did try pouring sideways with a metal can that had metal cap
threads.  Since the threads run all the way to the top, there was a
tendency to drip back down.  At least for me, pouring that denatured
alcohol didn't go to well.

As for the fuel, my Trinity monster brew 1 gallon can has a plastic
threaded neck, but the last 1/4" to the top is not threaded.   This may
make for easier pouring...I haven't tried since I already made a mess
and filled my 1 quart bottles.  Next time, I"ll try though.  The metal
is not full now too, so it will be much easier.  I do use the 250-500cc
fuel bottles to fill my car, but I don't like to keep breaking open the
1 gallon can and that's why I use the 1 qt bottles.  Easier for the
field too.  Another method is I guess I can use the squeeze fuel bottle
to make the initial transfer, then pour the metal can to the side when
it's not so full.
