Cut a funnel from the top of an empty plastic (20 oz or larger) sod
bottle for the recieving jug/bottle.  At the local novelty store yo
may be able to fnd a "tornado in a bottle" device (intended to mate tw
2-liter bottles) which will mate the soda bottle to the receiving bottl
so you won't need 3 hands.  Some bottles, the part soda bottle funne
witllfit inside the opening snugly and the cap threads act as a vent
(works VERY well with Powermaster fuel cans when you have a "pour an
pump" setup with permanent fittings in the can.)

When pouring from a nearly full metal can with the cap near a corner
tilt the can sideways with the opening UP.  This reduces spillage b
allowing better control of the pour.  The can must be tilted further t
get the content to come out and air can enter better, reducing th
surging effect of the fluid having to stop exiting the jug when ai
enters. (because air can always enter if you don't pour too fast)  
have used ths method to transfer a FULL gallon from one can to anothe
with no funnel and no spillage

Perhaps you already know this - Notice the cap is offset on the top of the
can?!  When pouring the cans contents the spout should be at the top or
furthest from the point in which you are filling, not at the bottom or near!
If I am careful, I am able to pour without any spillage!!

Also I like and use a small re-fill bottle to fill my vehicle fuel tank or
pit stop - Most LHS's will carry a small re-fill fuel bottle for your RC
vehicles. for this very purpose
