Tire Weights for Balancing?

Hello all-

I just put new taper pin tires on my Losi XXX-T.  I purchased new
wheels as well.  After carefully glueing the tires using all the tips
in this forum the front tires were not balanced and shook the whole
truck.  The rears were fine.

I resolved the problem by glueing some lead weight to the inside of
both front rims to balance the tires.

Is this normal?  Seems crazy to be ADDING weight....

Upon closer inspection it looks like the wheels may not have been round
in the first place....

TIA

Kalama

You did exactly right.  In fact most people miss the tire balancing
step, and lose a lot of performance that way.  Lead tape usually does
the trick, but shoe goo and rocks will do in a pinch.  :-)
