Then look what I did :) Gearing is Robinson Racing hardened steel, 18/48.
Break in will commence when my mate gets back from shopping with the
missus - he insists I don't go without him.

Nice!..
However, I think I would clean my fuel tank if it looked like that before
opening it! =)

Thanks, I always hated going through the break-in, I appreciate you
doing it for me.

I broke it in, took aaaaaaaaaaaages, and began to tweak it. Didn't get it
fully tuned as you'll see from the vid, still belching smoke, but by christ
there was clearly some grunt there - still to loosen up as well...

You can't tell from the vid, because it's a bit lame, but it was belching
smoke everywhere, leaving a haze over the carpark. Also, I suspect my
clutch springs could do with been a bit stiffer...
Cheers

Looks like that is going to be an awesome power plant.
Second already seems to be shifting in too soon. (depends on your preference
though)
Will be nice to see a vid of it winding out a bit.
Good Luck tuning.

Heres another small movie made just before the manifold gave up the ghost

here the stock HPi Teflon 3 shoe cluch is loosing it's valiant battle....

Yea it does feel *very* well made. The guy who runs Bolton Model Mart
posted photos of the innards of one on the MaxBashing forum, they seem
very, very well made and ported. It's starting to loosen up nicely now...

How many ports does that beastie have anyways? From your pics it looks to
be a small bore/long stroke design. Lotsa torque I'd imagine!

Looks nice new and shiney :D
Just one thing that I'd suggest (apart from cleaning the tank to stop grit
getting inside too easily).... move the fuel supply pipe to the other side
of the head say from the tank around the LH side of the truck and then
across to the carb, use tie wraps (not too tight) to secure the fuel feed
and pressure lines together over the transmission. At the moment your fuel
is getting pre-heated by the head and that could cause lean running problems
later on as you tune it and the temp increases. Won't be much of a problem
as the year carries on and the temps drop but come next summer it'll begin
to be a problem.

Nice tip - I have heard of that been a problem actually, but I don't have
any more orange fuel tube and don't want it to be different colours :D
