Been reading a bit lately on .28 to .32 motors...
I would chance the parts availability for an STS .28 or .30..(D28M/D30M)
(Dragon Head) especially for the price.
Ebay should be picking up on parts for them as new dealers become available
in the states..
Forget the Collari..seems like a nightmare from what I have read without
changing the carb to RB and whatnot and very finicky and sucky manifolds.
Ofna .32 not as fast as the .28, but plenty more torque.
Haven't heard/read alot on the OS motor(generally consistant proformer) or
Axial or LRP..
SH motors some like it, some don't.
I would stay away from Team Infinity or Wasp or the same block mill motors
personally.
Alot of people still rave about the Italian mills or similar like Novarossi
.28 (528 series) ..but big bucks as well as Pro Spec style motors!
My pick for a powerhouse budget block an STS .28-.30 or Ofna Force .28-.32.
What is generally hard to find (that I have noticed) when you get past the
.28 motor, is the RPMs the motors generate.
I would guess because they probably don't want to show a lower RPM from a
bigger motor..but of course torque is also factor here... and some regearing
can reclaim speed if needed.
I'm sure there are those who would swear to a motor that I would pass up on,
and I am not putting any motor down in particular, just going by the
information of what I read.
Basically if RPMs are wanted..stick with a .28...more torque .30+
JMO for now (Opinion could change irrationally) =)

Agreed - they are fantastic, all spares are shipped in from HK for me :-)
Get a roto start one, with a spare oneway and I can't see that you'll ever
need anything. Or, they're so cheap, just buy two!

Agreed - heard the same.

Know someone with an OS .30 - said it was a lot more of a low end motor than
a high end screamer. Have you considered staying in the home stable with a
nice reliable K4.6? The Axial .32 is supposed to be seriously awesome...

I had one - it was special - SO much power (May I even suggest more than the
STS .30...)

DON'T get a Wasp .28.... Team Infinity - well, they come as stock motors in
the Acme stuff, need I say more?

Getting towards big money, but the 8 Port Nova is a bit of a beast...

I can't recommend Force from previous experience, I found them to be poorly
made and didn't last very long (Force .21 a few years ago). They may well
have upped the game though!

I read some poor reviews per way of tuneability/finicky as well. That one's
out!

I had thought about the K4.6. Indeed. Proven performer, around $150 on the
bay'. I have read similar things about the OS motor; lots of grunt, not so
much go.

I had three, all were pieces of utter and complete sh.t!

Team Infinity was NEVER an option!!! WASP motors are poorly made as well
and were also never a consideration.
I'm real tempted to grab an Axial .28 or .32 as I've heard great things
about them. Then again I could always go with ol' reliable and toss a
Sportwerks .26, 7-port in there and have all three of my vehix powered by
the same mill! It's got loads of bottom end and absolutely SCREAMS on the
top end. Hmmmm...................

I'd add my only comment, dont get a K4.6, I'm not happy with mine, its a
nice engine, but it could be a lot better and IMO you wouldn't like it
either. Mine is hard to keep under 280F at any useful tune so I just run it
like that (hot). Besides if it melts I have an excuse to get a new one :)
Hence why I am saving this thread, LOL!
Cheers Dre
