OK, now I don't feel so queer!  I thought it looked really good as well.  I
might put the pink body on it the next time I go to the track just to f**k
with the other guys.  It'll be hella embarassing to get whomped by a PINK
truck.  Ha!

It's time for a new motor for the Savage!  The S-25 is still running great
after 16 gallons <just passed the 16 gallon mark this evening> but I want
more top end speed and the only way to do that is to add horsies and drop a
few teeth on the clutchbell <currently 16/49>.  Here are my thoughts:

Werks Collari .32 (3.8 HP)
O.S. .30 VG (3.0 HP)
Axial .32 (around 3.5'ish HP)
LRP .28 (3.81 HP)
OFNA .32 (advertised at "3+ HP)

Your thoughts?  The STS is out d/t parts inavailability this side of the
pond.

Been reading a bit lately on .28 to .32 motors...
I would chance the parts availability for an STS .28 or .30..(D28M/D30M)
(Dragon Head) especially for the price.
Ebay should be picking up on parts for them as new dealers become available
in the states..
Forget the Collari..seems like a nightmare from what I have read without
changing the carb to RB and whatnot and very finicky and sucky manifolds.
Ofna .32 not as fast as the .28, but plenty more torque.
Haven't heard/read alot on the OS motor(generally consistant proformer) or
Axial or LRP..
SH motors some like it, some don't.
I would stay away from Team Infinity or Wasp or the same block mill motors
personally.
Alot of people still rave about the Italian mills or similar like Novarossi
.28 (528 series) ..but big bucks as well as Pro Spec style motors!
My pick for a powerhouse budget block an STS .28-.30 or Ofna Force .28-.32.
What is generally hard to find (that I have noticed) when you get past the
.28 motor, is the RPMs the motors generate.
I would guess because they probably don't want to show a lower RPM from a
bigger motor..but of course torque is also factor here... and some regearing
can reclaim speed if needed.
I'm sure there are those who would swear to a motor that I would pass up on,
and I am not putting any motor down in particular, just going by the
information of what I read.
Basically if RPMs are wanted..stick with a .28...more torque .30+
JMO for now (Opinion could change irrationally)  =)

Agreed - they are fantastic, all spares are shipped in from HK for me :-)
Get a roto start one, with a spare oneway and I can't see that you'll ever
need anything.  Or, they're so cheap, just buy two!

Agreed - heard the same.

Know someone with an OS .30 - said it was a lot more of a low end motor than
a high end screamer.  Have you considered staying in the home stable with a
nice reliable K4.6?  The Axial .32 is supposed to be seriously awesome...

> SH motors some like it, some don't.

I had one - it was special - SO much power (May I even suggest more than the
STS .30...)

DON'T get a Wasp .28....  Team Infinity - well, they come as stock motors in
the Acme stuff, need I say more?

Getting towards big money, but the 8 Port Nova is a bit of a beast...

I can't recommend Force from previous experience, I found them to be poorly
made and didn't last very long (Force .21 a few years ago).  They may well
have upped the game though!

I'll in-in line this reply; thanks to both of you for the

Hmmmmm, me tempted now................

I read some poor reviews per way of tuneability/finicky as well.  That one's
out!

I had thought about the K4.6.  Indeed.  Proven performer, around $150 on the
bay'.  I have read similar things about the OS motor; lots of grunt, not so
much go.

I had three, all were pieces of utter and complete sh.t!

Team Infinity was NEVER an option!!!  WASP motors are poorly made as well
and were also never a consideration.

I'm real tempted to grab an Axial .28 or .32 as I've heard great things
about them.  Then again I could always go with ol' reliable and toss a
Sportwerks .26, 7-port in there and have all three of my vehix powered by
the same mill!  It's got loads of bottom end and absolutely SCREAMS on the
top end.  Hmmmm...................

I'd add my only comment, dont get a K4.6, I'm not happy with mine, its a
nice engine, but it could be a lot better and IMO you wouldn't like it
either.  Mine is hard to keep under 280F at any useful tune so I just run it
like that (hot).  Besides if it melts I have an excuse to get a new one :)
Hence why I am saving this thread, LOL!

Nice looking collection Doc. Savage looked just a "little" tweaked
after it's tree contact. :)

Heh heh, it was f**ked up pretty bad, that's for sure!  It stopped DEAD when
it hit the tree, so the truck took a huge hit.  Looks worse than it was,
really.  Only cost about $30 to fix.

Nice pics!

I really need to get off my arse and do the same, but is anyone interested??

Are those Proline knuckles on the Kanai?? AWESOME tires IMO and about the
only ones that hold up for any period of time :)  Have you tried the
Badlands??  the only tires I've ever run on my Inferno that gripped so much
it flipped the thing over mid corner!  They rip the ground to shreds!

Love the dirty as Savage pics, thats great stuff :)

Btw, there is a big box waiting for me at home!!  Cant wait to open it up
and take a squizz at my new E-zilla!!!  Wooooot!

I'm always interested in user's rides!

Yeppers, those are Proline Knuckles mounted on Proline Wabash wheels.  I was
a little disappointed in them to be perfectly honest.  They don't have
enough bite on grass or loose dirt and the concrete chews them to shreds,
FAST!  Now the badlands on the other hand, which I have mounted on PL White
Dish wheels are AMAZING!  They truly, utterly will bite on just about any
surface!  I had to adjust my driving style with the badlands as I used to
powerslide around corners.............with the badlands..............you're
right..................it'll flip right over d/t side bite of the tires.
The best tires I've ever run on the buggy were Panther Komodo Dragon's
(soft).  Only problem was they lasted 1 quart of fuel and were pooched.

> Love the dirty as Savage pics, thats great stuff :)

It was soooooooo muddy at the track that day!  All the other guys were going
<around> the mud puddles and mud bogs.  Not I.  I just plowed right thru em'
at full tilt!  It took me, literally, 7 hours to clean up that disgusting
mess.  I pretty much had to disassemble the entire truck.  It was worth it
though!

I almost bought one of those guys awhile back.  Lemme know how it works out
k?

Okay, I want some pics of them anyway so I'll get on it!

LOL, I only tend to drive on hard packed gravel and for that the knuckles
are the only ones that hold out long enough.  When the ground is a bit
softer, they grip like stink!

On grass and loose gravel I run the badlands.

Will do, I've only had a chance to change the battery/motor connectors.  But
what I instantly noticed was that its no savage WRT the plastics they used,
they look and feel more fragile than the mighty Savage :)

Also the TVP setup again causes compromises, the emaxx has the batteries
very low on the chassis and its laid out very well, the zilla cause of the
TVP has everything up high (higher than the maxx anyway).  I'm yet to drive
the 2 back to back so I dunno how it'll go, but I have a feeling the Maxx is
a better handling truck.  Time will tell.

LOL, I know, I've been very very slack..

But now I have another reason to do it, the zilla, I really want to get some
nice pics of all 3 trucks sitting next to each other.

Might need a very wiiiiide angle shot for that :)
