What's The Big Idea

I've been noticing lately that there seams to be so many new trucks and
buggies out or coming out by so many manufacturers.

Why is it happening now? Are they doing it now so by the time they actually
have the shelves fully stocked it'll be Christmas or are they actually doing
it for those of us fortunate enough to live in the Southern Hemisphere that
have both summer and Christmas in the same season???

Or maybe its just after tax time so people have a little extra cash floating
around???

HPI E-Savage and Hellfire SS??
Team Losi Muggy and 1/8 Comp buggy
Schumacher Havoc
Tamiya Ford F350 High Lift (Still Waiting for this to happen)
I think Hot Bodies even have a few new trucks out that aren't based on a
Savage and Traxxas has finally (after years of waiting) revamped their
entire range of electric and nitro powered trucks.  Team Associated have a
couple of new EP buggies coming out as well.

BTW - its also interesting to note that the list price (RRP) for a few of
these is cheaper here in Aus than in the US which is very unusual for us.

And they're all *really* over priced here in the UK!  Can't answer your
other questions, but I do like the look of that Losi Muggy...

I've been told that Thanksgiving is a huge shopping time in the States -
bigger than Christmas even - dunno when it is but it must be getting
close, perhaps that's why?

Me too!  Since I would never spend what it takes to buy a Hilux on ebay :)

Around the end of November.  Its been over 20 years since I lived there and
as a child I don't remember it being a big gift giving time.

The other thing I have noticed is that the 1/18 scale market has slowed a
bit as well.  I think TA are the only ones that have produced anything new
recently except for a 1/16 nitro buggy that I have seen around on eBay in
recent months.

You forgot:

Kyosho MP777 ST-R and ST-R sport
Kyosho Mini Inferno 09 (baby nitro buggy)
Losi Eight
Savage X SS Kit
OFNA Mutilator
Losi Aftershock

And I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.  I think the Turkey Day spending is a
good theory, but it pisses me off too, as I end up wanting several things at
once instead of spacing out my desired RC vehix.

Yeah, my local hobby shop (Dandenong, Melbourne, Aus.) have a large range of 1/8 scale trucks at the moment. It's where I bought my
XTM Mammoth ST. The Hellfire looks tempting to me.

I know a guy that runs a Hellfire - he doesn't rate it really - a bit on the
weak side.  One of the boys in our group used to run a Mammoth - have you
ever managed to find anywhere where you can *really* open it up?  The
gearing is far too long, but when you get it near it's top end, by christ
they fly :D

Ho boy does it ever! There's a small bmx track near me where I run it for fun over the jumps, but for opening it right up I take it
to the football oval 300 metres down the road from my house. ;-)

It came with a Ofna Force 25 engine, but I have just taken delivery of a XTM 45.7 engine, so once that goes in and has been run in
it'll really hoot along! Can't wait.

Cheers,
Dale
