Upgraded Radio System?

Hello,

Are there any reallyneat radio systems which offer visual stats such as MPH,
temp etc?  Something that's comfy too...
Would fit it to the MTA4 replacing the stock one.   I am guessing it will be
digital instead of RC? Also, would prefer one with a failsafe built in....

Lastly, the wheel style feels better than the two sticks.....

trouble is standard radio's are one way transmission's i.e from you to
the car, to have a readout of mph temps fuel level ETC you will need a
sensor on the car for each item you would like a readout of, and the a
TX in the car and a receiver in your TX it can be quite easily be
achieved but at a cost and a weight penalty in the car

Cool,

Do you know of any manufacurers so I can investigate further?  I don't even
know what the real name for such an item would be lol :)

By christ that's a nice bit of kit.  Not cheap though is it...

Gary - consider a Venom Speed Meter if you just wanna know speed?  About £20
or something, and records top speeds etc and displays them on it's little
LCD screen like a temp sensor.

And while your there also consider the Venom Smart Temp Failsafe which is a
failsafe and temperature monitor in one.  It can also be set to return to a
preset throttle position if the temp gets to hot, loss of radio signal and
if your batteries fail in the truck.

Personally I think a failsafe is a must have but the Venom Smart Temp takes
it one step further.

Regarding the Venom Smart Temp......................

I owned four.  The first one I bought, the next three Venom sent me as all
prior ones were faulty.  After the fourth one I gave up.  All caused
excessive radio glitching.  I tried them in four diffrerent radio systems
(AM 27 and AM 75, two FM 75 systems) on 8 different frequencies and all had
the same problem.  I wouldn't run one if you paid me to.

I was only suggesting, as Gary was after these sort of things.  I've had no
previous experience so I wouldn't no anyway.

I would still suggest a failsafe though.

Ta,

Have the failsafe in all three cars...

describe the glitching

I've owned two of the venoms and have never had a prob. three different
radio systems too.

Y'know that's what I hear; I know a few folks who have run them w/o issue.
Maybe all four I got were from a bad batch.  Anywho, the glitching was a
constant buzz at short range with barely visible horn movement in
alternating, opposing directions.  The further away you got, the slower the
increment of the buzz got but the hron movement increased.  Short range =
fast buzz with little movement, medium range = slower buzz with more
movement, long range was just a bloody mess!

I tried all four on four previously glitch free radio systems.

Failsafes are great and all, but what happens when your failsafe fails!  I
run mechanical failsafes on all my stuff and avoid electronic failsafes like
the plague; I don't trust em.'  I've never had a problem with runaways or
the like using mechanical means of stopping the vehicle.  Heh, on my JR
radio system the Venom Smart Temp reduced the radio range to 30 feet!  Yes,
feet!  It was just bloody awful!
