Righto I'm damn glad I went to replace those clutch springs.  Last night I
pulled the engine out of my Savage to change the clutch springs with these
new Mugen 1.1mm ones.

First thing I noticed (as I've been working on my e-maxx and e-zilla) is how
much stronger the truck feels (plus its damn HEAVY!).  Anyway, I pulled the
clutch bell off, then pulled one of the shoes off, DAAAAMMMNNN, those
springs are TINY!!  Seriously they would have to be 0.8mm or less, plus the
HPI shoes I had in there were toast, most likely due to constant rubbing on
the clutchbell.

I put the 1.1mm ones in there with the new Mugen shoes I got and she's all
better again.  While putting the shoes back on I had a thought.  Is the
reason you install the shoes as trailing shoes (as opposed to leading shoes)
so that when you put the brakes on, the shoes disengage??  (rather than
holding and stalling the engine)

I also went to change the diff gears in my maxx, but on closer inspection I
found the rear center drive shaft diff cup's grub screws had come loose and
it was spinning on the shaft!  Ha!  the diff is fine!  Tightened em back up
and she's all fixed :)

I am now pretty much ready for the w/e, the Savage is ready to roll with its
new clutch springs and shoes, the Maxx is ready to roll and the Zilla is
also good to go for its first outing!  I'm planning to run the Maxx and
Zilla back to back to see how the Zilla performs and once I've done a few
batteries in them I bust out the Savage and level the playing field :)  I
cant wait!

Its raining today and tonight, but its supposed to be ok weather wise on
Saturday, so its gonna be a messy one, LOL!

Pics will follow soon!

Cheers Dre

Bloody oath, I put loctite on last time too!  I checked over the rest too,
they were *all* loose!

The spool in the back of that thing is very hard on the driveline so I
reckon its the culprit.  I just cant bear to take it out cause it is SOOOOO
much fun in there :)

on this planet that is more keen than me atm :)

Cheers Dre
