Anyone in to this??

I currently run a Clod that has been a slow ongoing project for the past
year getting converted to a 2.2 Crawler.  Its running Traxxas 2.2 wheels
with Imex Swamp Dawg tyres, stock motors, modified pinion adapters from my
old Blackfoot, 9t pinions, 4 wheel steering, Traxxas shocks and modified
TQ3, Super Rooster ESC with fan and soon to get a big arse lipo to run it.
The body is undecided at the moment but the old destroyed nitro bodies get
used for the crawler for the time being.

Sadly I am still running the stock chassis but I wanted to see how long it
will last before I have to replace it.  I no it leaves me a little limited
but I have read many posts about them being weak and mine has taken a
beating and still hasn't broken yet.

I'm just wondering what other have?

I've been considering getting a E-zilla. Savage, T or Emaxx roller to use as
a scale Rock Crawler buggy tube chassis project.  This will run a .850 - 1kv
brushless set-up and Lipo's when finished.

I have also figured out how to mix the 3rd channel of the Traxxas TQ3's
properly with the steering rather than just having a switch.  I just need to
get a couple spare TQ2 cases so I don't have the old thumb hole in the TQ3
case and make it look a little more professional.  I no I could have just
bought a 3 channel radio that already has mixing for the 3rd channel but
that takes away a lot of the fun of doing it yourself.

Cheers

I can tell you know, my E-maxx with spool in the back is the best rock
crawler I have ever driven, in fact thats all I use it for :)  Before the
spool it was pretty good, put the spool in the back and its better going up
in reverse than it was before in forwards!!!  After the spool its AMAZING!
(But hard on driveshafts, so recommend MIP's)

4 wheel independant long travel suspension, 2 speed box (1st is PERFECT for
rock crawling), symetrical chassis layout, PLENTY of power, awesome!

I have given my e-maxx absolute hell and it just keeps coming back for more!

I'll be able to give you a rundown of Maxx vs Zilla next week, but until
then, E-maxx is KING :)

Yeh, the missus is running a spool in the back of her Emaxx, but it still
doesn't compare to the Clod for crawling but your right about destroying
axles.  I've thought about doing the Revo shaft mod and see if that lasts a
bit longer.

Also when we go crawling with the Emaxx we put 9t pinions and the 72t spur
in and take a shock off each corner, it makes the suspension super soft
which helps with the articulation and gives it a lower CG.

Dont get the revo axles!  They are just as pissweak as the stocko's.  If you
want strength, get a set of MIP metal CV's for the rear end.  I did and have
never looked back!  On concrete, driving slow, when at full lock, the inside
back wheel skips :)

While I was ordering i also got a set of center MIP's.  Wont be long before
I get a pair for the front as well...

Do the cvds limit your articulation any?

Not one bit over the standard plastics.  In fact you gain a little as the
plastics are so big, they rub on the a-arms at full travel, the MIP's
dont...
