Here's a pic of something I threw together this afternoon. I know it's a bit ghetto, but I was anxious to get it working, , , ,I'll probably make a more polished version later. It's an emergency air horn, hooked up so it can be activated by a standard servo. Tomorrow I'll strap it on to the kid's revo and try it out (He doesn't need reverse anyways). L8r

You sure "ghetto" is an appropriate term?

GTD - 10 Sep 2006 18:18 GMT Ghetto, as in, low-class, low budget, dilapidated, , ,ect..

kind of like If we were both african american and I called you "nigger". That's OK between us, but if I was white and you were black it wouldn't be acceptable.

Well, I really do not think it is socially unacceptable. I really do not care what the book version of the definition of the word, it is commonly used, in the world of modding (wether it be cars, computers, toys, bikes, ect) in reference to things that are, basically, the opposite of "trick". It's meaning is the low-tech, unpolished, function over form mentality of building or modding something. From my experiences, ghettos exist regardless of race, , ,, and I have NEVER heard of ANYTHING referred to as "ghetto" because of it's Jewish affiliation, that is just not the common usage. If a person finds that type of usage offensive, , , they are looking for something to complain about. . .

[quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > that type of usage offensive, , , they are looking for something to > complain about. . . I'm with you on this one bud. Me and my friends have "Ghetto Fest" every now and then, where we run our 1/10 electric el cheapo buggies (I run a 20-year old Kyosho Shadow, other buds are running older Tamiya and Kyosho kits) and have a blast. The highlight of our last ghetto fest was when my bud's Tamiya was "screaming" up the driveway at full tilt (maybe 15 mph) and the right-rear tire came off and actually passed the buggy and made it clear to where we were standing with a decent head of steam still behind it. I fell down I was laughing so hard.
We constantly refer to things in our collection, toolboxes and mods we've made as "ghetto" to indicate they are either old, cheap or haphazardly done.

If you choose to sound like a rube, that's your decision.

I'm sorry but I'm a little confused.
Are you saying that your Irish, French, German, Italian, English or Polish???
The term Ghetto comes from Venice's Ghetto and was founded by the Venetian Republic on March 29, 1516.
The Irish immigrants of the 19th century were the first ethnic group to form ghettos in America's cities.

Easy fellas :-) It's just a regional dialect thing isn't it, some people here say it and it means the equivalent of cool!

Does this mean we are picking it up again?
TyBreaker - 10 Sep 2006 21:16 GMT > You sure "ghetto" is an appropriate term? ghetto means nothing here in Oz, try to remember the world is bigger than the USA. We get enough yanky crap on our TV without having to take on your social problems as well.

There are 10 types of people in this world; those who understand the binary numbering system and those who don't.
There's no place like 127.0.0.1.
ASCII a silly question, get a silly ANSI.

I've been thinking of getting the newer reverse module with mixer for my Savage (so I can use a decent radio with it, the standard HPI one sucks badly). I all ready have the 3 chanel setup in there with the standard reverse. With the mixer, I free up the third chanel without losing reverse. I could then use the third chanel for something like this!!! haha, if it wasn't allready loud enough :)
Cheers Dre
