http://www.tinyurl.com/hq7lx Do they fit on a savage 25?

Also I was told that just the hexes would need to be replaced to take
17mm hexed wheels. Surely not true as they sell a whole conversion kit
which includes drive shafts?

Also I have a save 25 3 gallon thru her.I have the the metal spurgear
and clutch bell to suit. I keep getting told these savages will wheelie
on demand. Why no mine then?

TIA

Well, I'm guessing the kit comes with thicker axels and nuts so enough of
the wheel material is pinched when you tighten the wheels on.  23mm hexes
mostly use a screwing the hex onto the axel system as the hexes are big
enough to fit a stock wheel nut inside them - whereas a 17mm hex wouldn't be
able to do that - not enough room for nut and wrench within the 17mm hex.

Wheelies are often very dependant on gearing, slipper clutch and rear
suspension setup.  What size clutchbell and spur gear are you running?
Numbers of teeth?

49t spur and 17t clutch bell. Standard set up apart from that. Also
dan you are UK based like me, wheres best/cheapest to obtain a shell
from painted or unpainted?

That's probably a little long geared to get wheelies on demand.  49/15 would
be better for wheelies - also if you really want them, a few extra preload
clips on the rear shocks will have you flipping all over the place -
although you'll tire of them very quickly it has to be said.  They're fun at
first, and just frankly annoying after you've ran and flipped it back onto
its wheels for the 50th time.

As for where to buy shells - I usually just look out for 2nd hand
pre-painted ones, as painting them annoys the hell out of me :-)

A stock Savage 25 will have great trouble pulling wheelies d/t the shitty
air filter and heavy tires.  You've just made it worse by throwing a 17T
clutchbell on it.  Cheapest way to wheelie heaven with an S-25 powered
Savage:

1. Motor Saver or equivalent 2-stage, high flow air filter $15.99 anywhere
2. Dirt Bonz Tires (wicked light!) $29./99 (4) on E-Bay
3. 15/49 gearing with 2-speed, 16/49 with 3-speed (you already have the 15T
clutchbell)
4. Mugen 1.0 clutch springs w/ stock shoes ($4.99 anywhere)
5. O.S. #8 (medium hot) or O.S. A3 (HOT) glow plug.  Stock R5 plugs are too
cold for this motor. ($4.99)

So, for $60 or so you'll have a wheelie monster that runs better overall
(air filter and glow plug upgrade) and handles WAY WAY WAY better d/t losing
the shitty stock tires.  I had no idea how crap (and HEAVY!) the stockers
were until I swapped them out!

If you want to add to the fun toss an HPI Polished pipe in there as well.
BTW, you WILL need a wheelie bar after the above mods, so might as well add
$15 to the total for one of those.  ;-)

Got a K/N just awaiting fitting.

17mm hexes, I only got 14mm (sav 25)

Easy Enough.

Ordered some equiv with local shop, awaiting delivery.

Is that in your nice american warm climate? I am in Warm <CHOKE>
England.

They are heavy, I've seen the postage charge on ebay for them!

Was looking at one TBH. Ribbed or smooth?

Noooooooooooooo!  DON'T fit the K&N - been there, done that, got the
T-shirt.  They're not built for nitro engines, they're breather filters for
real 1:1 cars and do not filter grit very well at all - you can quickly kill
an engine with one of those in a dusty environment.  The motorsaver is a
fine choice, personally I run this tho -

This is the filter that came stock with the 4.6 kit, and now with the Sav X
and the 3.5, also with the Ltd Edition.

Ah no the tyres are available to fit your stock wheels, they're the same
tyres that come stock on the K4.6 albeit on IMHO much prettier wheels.

See here - although they can probably be had cheaper -

And these are the wheels they come on with the 4.6 kit (although they'll fit
your stock wheels as well, these would just be purely for bling :) )

No he's right, I recommend OS A3s for that lump, they can be had cheap from
here -

I ran a ribbed for a while, it's obnoxiously loud (like, annoyingly so), and
the smooth polished seems to give more grunt as well.

And these, not cheap by any means, but don't they look just sweet :)  And
those trinity foams are pretty much as good as it gets.
