I have a hyper7, and am wondering what others here run in their
buggy's diffs, ,, front, rear, and center. I plan on changing out the
oil, , ,and need a good baseline to start with. . .Thanks. ..

What sort of track or area are you running on?  Rougher tracks like lower
rated diff oils and smoother tracks higher rated oils, try 3k front, 7k
centre, 1k rear. I hear thats usually a good starting point (it's been a
while since I set up a buggy mind you!). As to the rest of the setups it
depends on your track and your driving style.

I don't really have a track to run on yet, still working on that, but
since I live in Alaska, it will be mostly sand/gravel, ,, very little
topsoil and NO clay up here. .

I'll try that as soon as I can get ahold of those weights. Right now
it has 120,000 in all three. . .

Ugh!  That's awful!  Thing must be harder than heck to turn!  In my Kanai 3
I run posi in front, 10k center, 5k rear.  Truggy is 10k/10k/5k, and Savage
is 10k/7.5k.

HTH,

I was trying for 100% maximum accelereation, and 100% minimum control,
, ,120K all the way around is the way to acheive this. . .

Actually, I didn't know what to get, i just knew i needed some oil in
there for lube. You run a spool in the front of your kanai?

Actualy it turns quite well, , just hit the gas, and it turns whatever
way it pleases. .

Not a spool.  Positraction aka Limited Slip.  Allows slip to a certain
extent then it retards the slip via "clutches" inside the diff.

Oh dear, I better check and see if there is *any* oil in my Savage diffs, I
bought them assembled and I was under the impression that they were greased,
not oiled!!!!!!

Might be why they are so non-LSD :)

As stock they are greased - but they're quite sparing with it hehe :-)  I
find on something like the Sav as opposed to a buggy, the difference is far
less noticeable, so I usually just chuck in whatever I have to hand.

Agreed, while there is a noticeable difference between greased and oiled in
the Savage, the difference between weights isn't as noticeable as it is on a
lighter, more nimble, center-diffed vehicle.

I put 5k in all three, because at the time I didn't want to buy three
different oils, for the cost.
Works decent enough.
Of course I have been known to just slap a bit of moly grease in there as
well (enough to coat the gears good) with no other oil.
It works well to, just don't over do it with the moly grease.  Easy to
create a posi effect with grease.
Ideally though I would run..
7k,10k,5k  or  5k,7k,1-3k

The trend from everyones answers seems to be medium front, high centre, low
rear :-)
