Your trip to the dark side of the hobby is now complete.  Your Traxxas
products now outnumber your HPI ones.  Tis' a sad, sad day!

Well, technically, that's not quite true as I have a complete Sav roller as
well :-)  Although I accept it's not a runner, so that doesn't really count
heh.  The stock Revo is going soon - the RB powered Revo is INSANE...

I think its good to see someone that has always been a fan of one make
expand his horizons.  Seeing a few of his other posts is a good example of
what he was missing out on with the HPI.

Cheers

To be fair, I still can't fault the Savage - it's never really broken
properly.  I just fancied a change I think :-)

A change can sometimes be a good thing.  As long as your having fun.  That's
what the various RC hobbies are about, Having Fun!

That's also why I decided to get a RC helicopter recently because I wanted
to learn a new discipline and it really is a huge change going from planes
and trucks that you can almost go full stick with in any direction.  Do the
same with a heli and your up for a expensive fix.

I want a Picoo Z but no one sells them in Australia yet.  I'm trying to get
my brother or nephew to send me 10 but they aren't answering their emails.
They are a awesome heli, about the size of your hand and sell at Radio Shack
for 30 bucks.  Sorta like the Bit CharG of the helicopter world.

After looking and reading rave reviews about them and how they are going to
be the HOT item for Christmas..Me and my RC bud thought we would go find a
couple today before they were all gone.
The first run of Picco Z Mini Helis through Radio Shack was $29.99...they
have since now went up to $39.99. (Something sells good..squeeze another $10
out of it....cause they come prepriced at $29.99 and the employees have to
remove the stickers from the box.)
Me and a friend of mine went searching today and found a couple with the old
price tag.. They rang up $39.99 and had to adjust the price for the
sticker...
My friend bought the first one and after looking at it had noticed the
manufacturers had dropped a glob of solder on the main prop..
so we go and exchange it for another...and I buy 1 also.
He charges his up and it fairs just OK for the first battery with some trim
adjustment (no nose weight)..
(I hadn't even opened mine yet as I was watching his to see if indeed I was
going to keep mine.)
Added just 1 of the 3 little nose weights provided for forward motion, on
the second battery charge, on his and the thing wont even lift off the floor
and just spins and wont hold the trim adjustments.
Yes, we followed the instructions to a tee.
We proceeded immediately to get refunds...
They are simply too cheap to last anytime. Looking closely at it, the main
props support guide bar/main gear is simply held stationary with the foam
body, so when and if (and you will) bump the blades..even though the blades
are flexible it will round out the support (the foam) for the blades support
rendering it useless. Give it another year, and there should be some quality
low budget mini helis available.

Yeah, I have read many reviews about them and 99% of them say its just a
fantastic plastic toy.  Most also say they need a little attention prior to
flying like the weights in the nose and a little silicon lube here and
there.  They are just a gimmick toy like the Bit Char-G was/is but just like
the Char-G I just thought it might be fun to have one.  It may just end up
like my Char-G and still be in the box and sitting on the shelf untouched
after 3 years.

If you had cheap batteries or rechargeable in the controller that could have
been the problem with the other flight.  The battery in them come with a
fairly decent charge in them from the factory, so they usually get their
best flight with the first charge unless you charge the battery with a
proper Li-Po charger.  Rechargeable batteries are a definite no-no in the
controller because they need the voltage to get a proper charge.  They are
very power hungry on the charger built in to the controller because of the
3.7v Li-Po battery and they also need a fairly long time to cool down
between runs.  The other problem with the Li-Po battery is that people just
run them flat like they do with NiCd's which is not a good thing.

I want to see what happens when people decide that one or two charges is not
good enough and the world has another Dell Laptop problem happening with the
Picoo Z.  :-)

Yes , the first initial charge only took about 10 minutes, as opposed to the
30 minutes of the second charge.
The battery was not run down flat (props would still turn, but no where
enough to lift it up)
The LiPo in the Heli was allowed to cool for 15 minutes as stated in manual
before second charge was started.
The batteries in the Transmitter (charger) were brand newly opened, brand
name Energizers.
I guess they should start supplying or offer a seperate LiPo charger with
the Heli...

I would still really like to have a mini heli like this ...so I will just
wait it out until some better quality offerings become available.
Just thought you would like the input on it.
Take Care

WALKERA make a smallish one as well.  I think the total size is about 12"s
and comes with a 4 channel radios.

WALKERA No.5 or similar

A bit oversized for indoor flight.. The mini "palm" size is definately what
I would like..
As far as it goes for now, the PiccoZ and Mosquito are about the only
options.
There are a couple of other offerings that are slightly bigger that I have
seen..but I was really hoping the PiccoZ would have been a bit more than
what it really was. Like I said, I am almost 100% sure that by this time
next year there will be more and better options since the popularity and
sales of the Mini PiccoZ.
Thanks for your help!

Given her a good going over - here is the spec as follows...

RB TM323 engine
Blue RPM arms all round, upper and lower.
7075 red alloy push rods
7075 red alloy toe links on the rear
Forward only conversion
3 racing alloy servo guards
Carbon throttle servo mount
New Era steel roll bar
Black proline rock pleaser body shell
titanium hinge pins
Blue alloy shock ends

It BADLY needs some gripper tyres hehe :-)
