On the Savage.............after 17 gallons or fuel or so, I finally bent a shock shaft and cracked the shock body. Kudos to HPI for some killer stock shocks. Damned things barely even leak after such abuse. Was running her this PM and had the crazy notion to jump my driveway and fly between the trees that line the side of my yard. On one side of the driveway there is a 3ft hump that runs the entire length of my driveway (about 1/8 mile), and on the other side are pine trees, spaced 6' apart. So, after a full-speed run-up to the hump, I was catching maybe 6' of air, flying over the driveway, between the trees and landing/crashing in my neighbors yard. I clipped the trees several times and had muliple botched landings. Kept running her for a few more tanks and didn't even notice till I brought her back into the garage that I had a puddle of 40wt silicone oil under the front-left a-arm. Suhweet! My bud's MGT didn't fare so well, as usual. He wasn't running it 1/2 as hard as I was and after 2 tanks he blew out the rear center shaft/CVD. I'm not impressed with that thing one bit. Every time he runs it something small busts, like a camber rod, dogbone/CVD, centershaft/CVD, one-way bearing, etc. Doc > On the Savage.............after 17 gallons or fuel or so, I finally bent a > shock shaft and cracked the shock body. Don't ask....) and the packet got lost in the post between the states and here. But HobbieGuyRc were very good about it and send me another FOC, so once it's fixed I might use it. I just can't get enough of the RB323 Revo (the 2.5R one hasn't turned a wheel since the RB arrived). The engine is, hands down the best engine I have ever used, and the Revo seems utterley unkillable. I'm watching an LST2 roller on eBay at the moment though ;-) Re: the shocks - it's very hard to justify changing them for metal ones isn't it when the stockers are so good hehe! I had a 4 day w/e just gone and it rained for 3 days of it!!!!!! Been trying to run my cars for 5 days now! Cheers Dre Ive already snapped a shock shaft on my lst2 I hit the same post that totaled the front end a while back, it missed the wheel and the front bumper bar and smacked the shock, im putting tini shafts in next time i snap one! ordered new era roll bar, the engine head has a new shiny top, wing kit and a few spares just waiting for the damb post. Sweet.. I have a jump like that for my TMaxx... A ditch that is about 3' high and crosses a tar road in our development (everyone has about 1 acre lots). I used to jump the ditch and go about 1/2 way across the road, landing on the tar. That was enough for me. Then one day I thought.. hmmm... can she make it the entire way? So I did it... full speed, 2nd gear... wooohooooo.... landed perfect on the "down" of the ditch on the other side of the road... smooth as silk. A few more times.. probably crashed 1 out of 4 times.. every crash meant it was time to redeem myself! Full speed it would clear it perfectly.. if it didn't shift into 2nd by a certain spot, I knew it would be short and biff... Well, since I removed my RDL driveshaft CVDs and put the stocker 3.3 driveshafts back on, it MORE than clears it... flatlands on the neighbors yard about 10 feet PAST where it used to land! lol... That is fun jumping. when people see you jump and get about 6' air, and go about 20' across a road and land it perfect on the down of the other side, you always get the "oooos" and "ahhhhhs"! No broken shocks yet, though. All I seem to bust on the maxx are the hinge pins... lol.. I must admit, as annoying as it is when little kids crowd round asking the usual questions, sometimes it is cool when people stand there been impressed hehe :-) Quite often get like, 30 year old men who clearly want one for themselves coming over under the thinly veiled excuse of "My son wants one..." heh. There is a house about 5 down from ours that when I'm out and I see them come home from school I shut it down and go inside. Too many times all 4 boys (ranging from about 10 to 4) come out "I have a question.. I have a question... jump it off a roof.. jump it there. Run it into a wall really fast..." But the adults, they just stand in amazement.. "That this is FAST! Sweet jump! I need one of those! Maybe next year..." I wish one of my buddies would get one... even as adults spending 500 or more on a "toy" sometimes doesn't fly with the wife. I plan on "buying my wife one" soon, though. I actually GAVE my wife MY modded Savage, put all pink fuel house on it, painted up a pink Silverado and splurged for some more aluminum parts and bling wheels.
