Aluminium is supposed to help with reduced breakages.

Alloy parts are stronger but replacing a weak point with a stronger point
means that something else down the line is going to have to break now
instead.

If you break suspension arms and replace them with alloy arms then the next
weak link is the chassis, hinge pins........  And add to this, that you have
now replaced the parts you know break with parts that now either breaks
other parts or bend and have to be replaced anyway.

I agree with you there.  I have 3 1/18 trucks. One is a fully BLINGED Mini T
that has a carbon fibre chassis and shock towers, full alloy suspension,
titanium turn buckles, MIP CVD's, a couple of RPM parts, 3Racing motor
plate/heat sink and bulkhead and a CC Mamba 8kv setup.

Net value about 3 or 4 times the price of the original truck.

Current status - shelf queen because I'm to afraid of scratching it, but it
does make for a good conversation piece.

Cheap and Alloy don't mix, consider spending up to 3 or 4 times the price
you paid for your RC18T for a full alloy upgrade.

GPM Racing - http://www.asiatees.com/
3Racing - www.3racing.com.hk
Team Integy - http://www.integy.com/

These are just a few of the alloy manufacturers but Team Integy probably
have the best complete deal.  They have a complete carbon fibre chassis with
fully alloy suspension or you can buy everything individually.  The fully
EVO-X conversion will set you back about $270 and you'll need to get the
alloy wheels to go with it for a further $47.

Once you've added the extra weight to your RC18 you'll need go brushless
because then you'll have a motor that will be able to actually make the
truck move so add another $110+ for a 8kv motor and speed controller and
then add a further $200+ for a couple of 3S Lipo's and a charger to charge
them.

So by the time your done adding all the alloy, carbon fibre and complete
brushless setup your probably looking at a total of $750 - $800 including
buying your $165 mini truck.

Personally I would buy the brushless setup first and then upgrade everything
else you break after that.

Sorry to carry on here, just trying to keep my mind busy.

Cheers
