The other engine you mentioned, the Force .32 - I've heard good things about
them - although I find Force engines as a rule a bit crap.  The STS .30 - I
had one and it was crap.  Good power when it held a tune, which was usually
for about 30 seconds.  People have since suggested I took it apart and seal
it - but I don't expect to have to disassemble a brand new engine and seal
up where the poor quality manufacturing has missed.  Also, reviews of the
STS are very hit and miss online, it seems if you get a good one they rock,
if you get a sh.t one, they suck big time.

If you're looking for a good, cheap big block, consider the GO.28 - never
heard a bad word about them yet -

Also, take a look at www.maxbashing.com and check out the forums there for
plenty of words on engines.

My bud installed a STS .30 in his Ravager and my Force .28 in my Ravager
beats it.
He has had tuning issues with it since break-in.
I really like the Force .28..but from gathered info via read internet..it
would seem they don't last very long.
(Approximately 4-8 gallons)

What do you have in there now bud?  S-25 I presume?  There are a few tuning
tweaks you can do to the S-25 without major cash investment to liven her up
a bit.  I'll save my typing until I know you have one!  He he he he.

If you're hell-bent on a bigger and badder mill, check out the Dynamite Mach
427 or Sportwerks .26.  All three of my nitros (Savage, Mayhem ST and Kanai
III buggy) are powered by them.  They are virtually identical engines; the
427 has a bit more aggressive porting, produces <slightly> more power and
gets much better fuel economy.

The SWK .26 will flip my Savage on it's lid (overpowers the wheelie bar)
with a 1/4 throttle stab from idle with 16/49 gearing and revs to the moon
(almost 43,000 RPM!) on the top end.  There is nothing I run against that it
will not smoke with this engine............cheap as dirt too.  427's can be
had on E-gay for under $100USD new.  Easy to start, easy to tune and hold a
tune very, very well.

There's another fella on here with an LST2 (427-equipped from factory) that
can perhaps also attest to it's greatness.

Yes I have the stock engine. Though I was told it should wheely, though it
dont, I'm running 17 t bell and 49t spur, the metal hardened ones. Standard
suspension - I mention this as I heard it makes a difference, but not sure.
I'm not after it to flip the rc, just a nice wheely from the start every
time i demand it would be nice, but nothing undriveable ;)

I'm kind of new to this, I can tune the engine for dif temps easy enough
now, just like to start diving into depth with it now.

To make it wheelie, you really want 15t clutch bell, also it can be
beneficial to stiffen up the rear shocks a bit.

ok lets be a noob here lol
Stiffen? harder springs? more of those clips that sit on the springs? or
different shock oil?

If you bought a T-maxx wheelies wouldn't be a problem :-)  jj's

Yep, what he said.  Basically you want to stop the back of the truck from
squatting down when you accelerate.  You can also try softening the front
suspension.  Tyre grip also helps here.  Tightening your slipper clutch
might help as well.

IMO, I think that a steel spur gear wouldn't help much as its adding
rotating mass to the transmission.

Though it will save me some money on plastic spurs.

I've been through one plastic spur gear from 6 trucks in 3 years.  $8 spur
gears are easier and cheaper to replace than bent or stripped components in
the g/box or diffs.

I use a metal spur as well, that stuff about diffs and gearboxes dying
instead, I've never actually heard of anyone doing that heh.  The metal spur
is great :-)

well i stripped 2 plastic in 1 year, lazy maintenace maybe. more like 15
dollars for a spur here, UK. So I suppose different expiriences infuence
different paths.

1) 15T or 16T clutchbell
2) Mugen 1.0 springs
3) Mugen carbon fiber or aluminum clutch shoes
4) HPI polished pipe
5) Motor Saver air filter
6) ANYTHING but stock S-25 tires! (too heavy!) Dirt Bonz will make a helluva
difference.
