Hi,

I've just bought a new Ha Bao Hyper 7 and cannot get it to start at
all. I've followed all the advice in the manual, primed the engine with
numerous pulls on the starter, checked the glowplug, tried starting by
hand and with a starter box, the car never fires. I've followed the
procedure in case the engine is flooded and tried everything a number
of times.

I'm at my wits end and am about ready to throw this through the window,
can anyone give me any advice on what I should check for to get this to
start ?

Thanks

Neil

Are you putting your finger over the exhauts? I didn't do this with my
savage when it was new and I was new too and it never started/ Oh I felt
stupid when I rang the shop up and asked why I couldn't start it.

If the above isn't the soloution, it's new, take it back?

Firstly if your old enough, sit back a chair, with the manual in one hand
and a drink in the other (sometimes a few drinks will help).  Read through
the starting instruction in the manual again without the buggy in front of
you.  Having the vehicle in front of you sometimes confuses the issue.

If the Hyper 7 is new it is highly possible the motor is tight at top dead
centre, you can check this by removing the glow plug and manually rotate the
fly wheel until you get to TDC.  If its cold where you are then a tight
motor could be a factor in starting the buggy.  Some people suggest warming
the head with a hair dryer, which will loosen things a little in the top end
and they get good first time starting results.

While the glow plug is out check that you are getting a bright glow from it
with the glow starter attached. If not this could be the problem and a
replacement glow plug might be on the cards but its also possible the glow
starter is not fully charged.

Also with the glow plug out of the buggy turn the buggy over so the glow
plug hole is facing down and give the motor a couple of pulls just to clear
out any excessive fuel that my be in the bottom end of the motor.  WARNING
do this outside.

The way I like to prime the fuel line with a new truck or a truck that is
hard to start is to physically remove the fuel hose from the pressure valve
on the pipe and from the carburettor and blow through the hose until fuel
comes out the end of the hose without any air bubbles, then squeeze the line
that goes to the carburettor on the end, so it doesn't fill back up with air
and reattach it to the carburettor.

Lastly just check the HSN (High Speed Needle) and LSN to make sure their at
the default settings.  The information should be in the manual.

Once you have done these few things you can now attempt to start the buggy
again, you shouldn't need to prime it although a quick touch of your finger
over the outlet on the tuned pipe should force a little fuel down the
throat.

Good Luck
