i took my brand new e-savage out for it's first run, and it was great.

i turn it on now and i don't get that "tone" after the speed control has
finished calibrating.

steering works fine, but no acceleration forward or reverse.

the light on my speed control is blinking green.

is there anything i can try ?

make sure transmitter in neutral when turning on.  transmitter should be
switched on before car.  If you have adjusted the throttle trim previously
return that to neutral too before switching on.

Also check that the batteries are charged, even when they are flat they will
supply enough voltage to power the radio and servo's but may not have enough
power to drive the motors.

You should always let the battery packs cool after each run, if they were
hot then it is more than likely they may not have gotten a proper charge
(false peaked).

You might want to check your charging source as well.  If your using a car
battery to charge off of, these twin chargers can reduce the battery life of
a car battery very quickly specially when charging at a high current rate.

Good Luck
